Great product

I got this model to replace what is now called the CO410 from First Alert. That is a perfectly fine CO monitor that had reached its 10 year life span in my home. This version from Kidde adds a sealed 10-year battery (rather than 2 replaceable AA's) and a built-in night light, plus its dimensions make it a little easier to use the second plug-in in the wall socket. I had the First Alert installed in a hallway with a separate nightlight squeezed into the second plug and had to unplug one any time I wanted to plug in the vacuum. The Kidde eliminates that little hassle. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 are 1) the night light level can be adjusted but even at the highest setting it is not really as bright as I'd like, although it is adequate, and 2) it is pricey at double the cost of the First Alert. If its advantages are worth it to you, I can recommend it.

As soon as I plugged this in, it gave a “low battery” error.

I bought 2, returned both. I gave them a chance to fix the problem, it still had a battery failure. Even though it has a 10 year battery it was dead on both units.

We purchased two of these things. We installed them precisely according to the instructions and initially, everything went properly. Within about five minutes however, the unit started a random/periodic low-volume chirp. We thought this might be something random that occurred at start-up. But after 20 minutes of this, we checked the instructions to find that the chirping indicated "Low Battery/Replace Alarm." This was a BRAND NEW UNIT.Figuring that we might have obtained a bad one (it happens), we tried installing the second one, again exactly according to instructions. Exactly the same thing occurred. Our initial thought was that maybe the battery was low from the factory and that it needed to charge up. But there was absolutely nothing about this in the instructions.A call to the company 800 number was terminated after 25 minutes of "Your call is very important to us". Guess what? Our lives are very important to us. We will return the product and buy something else.

Bought this at the local Home Depot. Two weeks later the low battery alarm is already going off! At the same time I bought this I also bought a Kidde smoke detector, false alarmed constantly. Kidde's quality has gone downhill, won't buy any more of their junk!
