Kaufman Essex Linen Blend Orchid, Fabric by the Yard

This is the second time I've purchased the Robert Kauffman linen blend and I remember why I didn't buy it again sooner. I wanted to make a red linen skirt for summer and this fabric really is more like lightweight denim...it doesn't have the flow or drape of linen. Don't misunderstand, it is nice fabric and washed up well, but it is really a misnomer to describe it as linen. Hopefully that makes sense. If you're looking for something with a little more structure than linen, but don't really want denim, this is your fabric.

This was the perfect material and colour for what I wanted. It was shipped very fast. I was very particular about what I wanted and when it got to me, as I was on a deadline. This was great! It may be difficult to work with as it does have a high tendency towards fraying. As that was one of the things I was looking for it was fine. It isn't especially soft, but rather a little stiff. It may soften after some wash and wear. I'm sure the colour will fade some also over time, but it hasn't bled much in the wash. I would recommend a prewash to make sure it won't shrink more than expected, or bleed on to other clothes before sewing. Overall I'm very satisfied with it.

This fabric shipped immediately and securely. All the yards I orders were in one continuous cut. This fabric has no odor and maintained its color and shape with regular washing and drying with very little shrinkage. The colors are true to what is advertised. This is perfect for what I need it for and I will definitely be ordering more! Thank you!

The color is greener than the picture. I expected a dark blue but its more of a Prussian blue color.

It was a little darker than I thought it would be, but it feels so nice!

I have been sewing for the past 28 years and this is by far the best fabric I've sewn with! I absolutely love it! I got it to make overall/pinafore dresses which means it is a slightly stiffer linen, but it's a beautiful color and works perfectly for what I bought it for.

I cannot get enough of this fabric. I’m working on a set of 2 viking age Jarls Kyrtills and the red wine colored linen is majestically beautiful. The amazon photos do it no justice, it’s very fine, medium weight, strong with a little stretch. Couldn’t be happier and cannot wait to buy more.

Maybe I got this wrong, but under this product someone added a picture of a dress made out of this fabric. But it is so harsh and itchy to the skin. The fabric did hold up nicely when sewing and I made a skirt (so proud lol).
