Last Day in Limbo (Modesty Blaise series)

Imaginative, complex, entertaining even if unrealistic.
This Modesty Blaise is certainly different. Plot is complex and nicely intertwined. A little unlikely, but Idi Amin was also unlikely; unfortunately,he was real. I'll stick with Modesty. After reading several of these books in a row, however, the plot resolution begins to stale as it seems to be repeated in each book. Not the plot details, merely the "rescue" of Modesty and Willie in the end.A good summer reading romp if one doesn't think too much...still, I did love it!

One of O'Donnell's better efforts.
Modesty Blaise was a cult figure 30 years ago and her exploits hold up well today in her genre. As escapist literature, the books rank well above average and are refreshing in that the larger-than-life protagonists are a man and woman team with the woman as the definite leader of the two. Last Day in Limbo is a typical outing for the Blaise/Garvin team with crisp action, villainous villains and a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Love Modesty Blaise
Love Modesty Blaise. In todays world the movie makers should be revisiting these characters for action movies with a strong woman hero.

Modesty Blaise is tops!
As with all of the Modesty Blaise adventures, this one is a cracker. For fans of non-stop adventure, intrigue, spy novels and comic strips, Modesty Blaise is for you! Begun as a comic strip in the 1960's, Modesty wears very well today. Give yourself a treat and sit down for a few hour stint with a Modesty Blaise novel.

Worst Blaise ever
This is the worst Modesty of them all. The plot is boilerplate Blaise, there is no interesting villain, and Modesty never gets to use her combat skills in a culminating battle (the worst of the villains is actually killed offstage by someone else!). It's a mildly entertaining read that just makes you think about how good the other books in the series are.

One of the most interesting and imaginative of all the Modesty Blaise novels. The concept is an intriguing one. As usual Modesty and Willie use their innovation and combat skills to get them out of difficult situations.
