How big is the handle?

It’s crazy big so very difficult to maneuver.

what size is the barrel?

3/4 inch. This is the "old" version that doesn't have the goofy holes at the bottom of the barrel that blow the rest of the hair that are not wrapped around the barrel. Why they have those holes to blow and dry the hair that we are not curling at the time, I don't know. I do not like the new version--love my old version without those extra holes.

Which one is better this version or the red one?

The red one for sure! Don't waste your money on this one.
