A lot of fake reviews - wireless charging does not work
It seems like many of these 5 star reviews are fake. They are all 9-10 lines and seems to be repetitive but different wordings! Seems like we can't trust Amazon reviews any more .There is no optical sensor! The phone mount opens when you put the phone on the mount and push it down. It's a simple mechanical way to open the mount. If you don't push the phone down, the mount does not open. Also, the wireless charging does not work with the thin case on my Galaxy Note 8 phone.Totally this is not worth $28 at all.

Terrible
When I received the item the box containing the car mount/charger was completely open with no seal whatsoever. I took the charger out and it had several scuffs and scratches almost as if the item was used. I then finally tested it out and it did not work.

Not wireless at all
I don’t know what “wireless” means here. Does it mean there is no wire whatsoever or a wire from outlet to the base but no wire to the phone from the base? All I know is it only charged when the chord from the cigarette lighter is plugged in to the base which isn’t what I bought: minute I unplug that chord no charging

Don't fit.
Product didn't come with USB-C like describe in description. I have a Samsung s9 plus with original Samsung case but couldn't fit.

Borderline worthless
I honestly don't know what happened but in the time that I ordered this and the day I received it, it went from 4.5 or so stars done to 2.5. I don't ever order things with low ratings so my guess is that there were a bunch of fake reviews in the beginning to get sales going and now "real" people are starting to receive it and post "real" reviews. This thing is borderline awful and should not cost more than $10. It's is extremely cheap feeling, and most importantly, WILL NOT hold a phone in Landscape Mode, which is the primary reason I bought it - even though it is advertised that it can rotate 270 degrees. Your phone WILL fall out. It basically uses gravity to "sort of" clamp to the sides of your device. If you hit a big enough bump, I could see a phone bouncing out. But this only applies in Portrait / Vertical mode. Also, I use a Pixel 3 and while it does charge my phone, it holds the phone right on the volume buttons.Going back to Amazon.

Now that I have used it for a few months
I have a iphone 10X and it charges through my special case and fits in the holder. My problem is that if I put it in where it is supposed to go, it the side clamps lower the volume. What I have found is to raise it up about 1/2" up from the bottom cradle, kinda letting it float, then grabbing the 2 side clamps and closing them on my phone. Then it will stay in place, charge, and my volume stays untouched. Is this that great of a solution? Well, given the fact I am driving a 2017 Highlander and having to put it in the vent, I have not found another solution. When I need to take it out, I have to gently pry it out of the clamps, since the "auto removal" feature does not work when it is raised up from the bottom. Since I didn't put a lot of money into it, I am going to keep using it like it is. I hope this works better for other phones. I would be interested to know if anyone knows of one that works with iphone 10X.

Won't charge wirelessly with Note 8 and case
Bought for a Samsung Note 8 with Normal Case. It bareley fits and does not wirelessly charge at all. Works fine with case off though. I charge same phone wirelessly on desktop charger just fine. Can't recommend this for a Note 8 as it doesn't quite fit right.
