Vestaware 16-Piece Knife Set, High Carbon German Steel Kitchen Knife Set with Block, Knives set with Knife Rod and Ergonomic Handle.

I gave a set of these to my mom for mother's day and she desperately needed a new set of knives. They are very sharp and she loves the selection, says she has a knife for everything. I sharpen her knives for her with a ceramic sharpening rod to keep a razor sharp edge and usually avoid the sharpener that came with set so I don't remove too much steel, which is perfect to maintain an edge. They should be hand washed as any carbon steel blade or tool should be. With carbon you get a more durable and long lasting edge with less sharpening at the cost of some of the non corrosive (rust free) properties of stainless steel. In my opinion it's a very fair trade off, however, if you loath hand washing you may want to stick with a standard stainless steel but they won't get or remain as sharp usually depending on steel type. I read some reviews saying they use on dishwasher which isn't the end of the world, but my advice for those that do, firstly remove from dishwasher asap and dry of remaining moisture from knives, and secondly keep very fine (0000 steel wool is the finest designed to remove rust with out scratching metal) steel wool on hand and when/if knives get rust very lightly rub steel wool on rust areas and make sure you do it on a wet knife avoid doing it dry as even very fine steel wool may scratch with out water for lubrication and again very light touch. All in all fantastic set of knives with a spectacular selection.

I bought "Block Set 2" which comes with 16 items including two sizes of chefs knives, a bread knife, a santoku, utility, and steak knives. The only complaint I have thus far is that the knives themselves weren't as sharp as I have received from other brands like Messermeister and Dexter, but I used the sharpener that comes with the set to get it up to speed.For handling, they're all incredibly ergonomic and comfortable to use in every way you'd be using them. The blade itself does not bend at all when you're using it. The metal is thicker creating a close-to-perfect counterweight on the back of the blade, making it even further sturdy. The beautiful rosewood handles are also very secure and offer an amazing matching aesthetic to your wooden cutting board.This knife set is for those who truly appreciate the art and aesthetic of kitchen knives. Take good care of these blades and they will treat you well for a long time.

The media could not be loaded.  I was in desperate need of a new knife set, so after reviewing I chose the vestaware 16 piece chef knife set. This is a beautiful set of knives, the wooden handles are heavy and wash well. The knives are very sharp, and the scissors are great for cutting herbs, I used them on cilantro last night and was very impressed. I used the 7" knife to slice my chicken into pieces and it cut through like butter. The quality and overall look of the knives are definitely worth the price, they are replacing a set of Michelangelo knives I had purchased back in November, and they just didn't hold up well. I can't say how well they will hold up in a year or two from now, but I will definitely update my review and photos in a year. As of now I am very happy with my purchase, and if they hold up well, I will definitely be purchasing a set for my mom.

I haven’t purchased a set of knives in several years and I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars on a set. But I will say this new set doesn’t disappoint, we have only used them for about a week but they are extremely sharp, quite heavy and feel very sturdy!! The scissors are my favorite part you can cut literally anything with them, I feel as though I could use them in my garage as tin snips, although I wouldn’t. At my local state fair some guy was selling knives for about $2,000 for a set and if you put these 2 sets side by side you couldn’t tell the difference. Although it remains to be seen what they will look like in a year from now I have a feeling they will hold up just fine. No knife will keep an edge forever but the sharpener looks to be of good quality as well so hopefully they will sharpen well. I would definitely recommend purchasing this set, they will be a great addition to your kitchen for any home cook. Judging by some other reviews some pros use them as well.

I picked these because I loved the handle design over any others I've seen. This set replaces the Pioneer Woman set I had before, and so that is my comparison. The steak knives are heavier than the Pioneer Woman steak knives, and the rest of the knives are lighter than the PW knives. They cut very well right out of the box. I am liking them so far. Knocking off one star because the stain on all of them varies a bit between knives. A few of the reviews mention the handles splitting, and I plan to try to avoid that by treating the handles with wood butter which I will also be using on all my wood handle utensils going forward. Also, I always wash knives by hand.

They’re nice looking and sharp! However , some of the blades in the steak knives are loose and jiggle around. We have only had them for a month and i noticed it about 1 week after we received them. They loose a little shine after using and washing even just once.. i assume if i take good care of them they should last a while.. very disappointed about the loose ones though.

Im now returning my replacement set as well for the same issue. Good quality sharp blades as one would expect.... new blades so ya...... but the handles are jiggling lose on most of the knives. Both of the sets even have at least one knife where the wood is already split open and its only a matter on time before the piece of wood falls out. All the steak knives on the second set have the same issue where the metal from the blade that goes into the handle portion is not evenly flush with the wood, some are bulging more than others. Sadly this is clearly a poor quality chinese product. In appearance it looks nice, but from trying two different sets and reading some other reviews only before writing this its easy to say that I have to agree with others. At the cost of over $150+ this quality can not be accepted and should be removed from sale. Its junk... do not not buy this product.
