Scandinavian Art Pottery: Denmark And Sweden (Schiffer Book for Collectors)

If you think this book is going to be similar to the British studio potters book on marks and individual potters, big names and small alike. You, like I will be disappointed. This book is beautify illustrated with lots of very helpful information. It concentrates on the big well known names, this information is available at many different locations. It did not as I had hoped go into detail about the smaller studio potters, there is a gap in the market for such a book dedicated to all Scandinavian studio potters not just the really famous ones.All that said I do not regret buying this book and have already used it to further my knowledge.I gave this 4/5 as it fell short of my expectations.

A great resource book as an introduction to Scandinavian art pottery.

This is the best available introduction to Danish and Swedish pottery that I know of. Especially the chapters on "Royal Copenhagen", "Saxbo" and "Arne Bang" are excellent. The material on Swedish pottery are not at all that good but still O.K.

I'm not a collector of pottery of any kind. I saw this book at a friend's and started reading it. The history of the pottery houses and different genres are very well explained here and it's a compelling read. I was able to even see styles and artists that matched my sensibilities. Overall, I learned something new and saw many pieces of art pottery that I enjoy. I understand why Scandinavian art pottery is so collectable now.

Livre de bonne facture. Présente seulement les grands noms. Peu de photos de signature pour identifier, ce qui est dommage car le livre donne des prix de vente des céramiques. Vous trouverez bien plus d'infos sur le net gratuitement. La galerie Mobler vous propose gratuitement sur son site plus d'info sur les signatures que ce livre. A l'heure du net un livre doit comporter plus que de jolies images surtout pour presque 50 euro.

ce livre regroupe une belle représentation des céramistes danois et suédois qui ont contribué au design et à la culture de ces 2 pays.

良い本です。美術館行きのデザイン陶器が全ページに余すところなく載っていて目を見張ります。日本民芸は有名なデザインは手が届かないのに、北欧民芸は今も比較的安価で手に入れられるのですね。
