Schematic Design (SD) ARE Mock Exam (Architect Registration Exam): ARE Overview, Exam Prep Tips, Graphic Vignettes, Solutions and Explanations

I have purchased the entire series of this book for the exams. I am using them in conjunction with the Kaplan study material. I found all of the extra information unnecessary and really only use the question and answer section for preparation. This series does a good job with the practice questions focusing on a more code based approach which I have found the Kaplan books lack. Together they seem to give a good balanced approach to studying and have successfully gotten me through the first three exams.

I used this book exclusively in my Schematic Design Exam preparation. Gang leads methodological approach of what it takes to come-up with a passing solution. The mock exams for the Interior and Building Layouts were very similar to the actual test. This gave me confidence to proceed and succeed in taking this exam. It it the best resource on the market for the money and is affordable.

This book was very helpful and straight forward. I would recommend to anyone trying to take the ARE before they change to the new version.

Not worth the price that they are asking. I decided to use Brandon’s, Dottie’s, and Alkikat notes for this exam. This book has too much redundancy of information that you do not need. Next time save ink and paper and focus on the SD exam content rather than giving us information about requirements for licensure, architecture degree and job outlook etc.

If you are just starting out for this exam, this book will prove an invaluable resource for navigating the online design tools and deciding how to approach each vignette. The design methodology and technical guidelines are extremely clear -- welcome advice to get through these punishing exams.
