Fantastic
To be fair, there isn’t a Max Lucado book I don’t like. But this one was especially timely for me. Loved it.

Lucado never disappoints
I have read a few of Max Lucado's and this one was excellent! But then that is what I have come to expect from the author!! He has become one of my favorites not only because his books are easy to read but mostly because they cause me to think and help me in my Christian walk!!

Very profound
Even though this was written quite a while ago, it is very timely, especially in these uncertain times. One thing is certain, God is still on the throne and still in control. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding". Proverbs 3:5

Amazing Book!
First of all, Amazon is incredibly great about shipping items as soon as possible. I was kind of bummed out when I saw the projected delivery date was at least a week after I purchased the book, but when I received it early, I was overjoyed. This book is a great read - Max Lucado has a writing style like no other and the way he makes things personal feels like he has been a friend forever. On the page where the information for the product is given, I thought all the information presented was wonderful. Plus, the change to "look inside" the book makes the suspense rise until I actually have the book in my hand. Thank you Amazon for your incredible service.

Another great Lucado book
So far I have loved every book from Max Lucado. They have helped me get back to Christ and our Father after many years away from the Church. His words always comfort me and make me think. His biblical references are helpful to note and read again and again. I like to put these references in categories like; fear, despair, how to pray, etc. Then I can read the Word right from my bible when I need help from the Lord's own teachings.

Classic Max...
I am clergy who has always loved Max and his message. It’s simple, the way the gospel was always meant to be. He lifts me up when I am running a bit dry. Thanks, Max!

If you need a reminder of his love, an assurance of his strength, an example of his kindness, you're holding the right book."
"If you need a reminder of his love, an assurance of his strength, an example of his kindness, you're holding the right book."I found this book goodreads.com, and it was pretty much the title, the description of the book and maybe especially this quote put together that made me feel like I should read it. Without going into it too much I'm going through sort of a rough patch (or Sahara desert, if you will!) right now. And I wanted to feel closer to God and sort of get all of these reassurances that this book seemed to offer. Having read it I can assure you that the short description above does not lie. This was my first book by Max Lucado. Although I've heard about him from time to time before, him being one of the most popular contemporary Christian authors, I've never actually read any of his books until now. I'm not even sure why, but all can I say is: Better late than never!Lucado have such an amazing way with words and the way he writes is just outstanding. It's easy to understand no matter what your background might be concerning God. I feel like I could recommend this to just about anyone. It wouldn't matter if you're curious about God, have been saved for like an hour or maybe a week or if you have been saved practically your whole life. The words just seems to go straight to your heart and were at times blended in with humor. And Lucado also has this tendency to take stories from the Bible and just make them come alive. It's like you're there yourself. I love that kind of writing.I pretty much used this book as a devotional (although sometimes reading several chapters in a row because I had a hard time putting it away). It has short chapters and also a discussion guide in the back for each chapter that I found to be a good help to dig deeper into what Lucado was saying. At first this seemed like a lot of work and I wasn't sure I wanted that and was thinking about maybe just reading and maybe sort of skim through the questions a bit when I felt like it. Instead I ended up sitting there with pen and paper the whole time. Yes, it took a bit more time, but it also gave me so much back to actually be thinking a bit deeper about what I've read and what the Bible says and so on. So to me, in the end, the discussion guide just made the book better.Out of the 30 chapters there are some that I liked more and some that I liked a little less. One of my favorite chapters, if not maybe even the favorite chapter, is Lessons from the Garden. This chapter in particular made me feel the strength of God in such a strong way and I therefore want to lift it up a little extra in this review. But I'll let the chapter speak for itself. Just listen to this:"He reveals himself. "I am he." His voice flicks the first domino, and down they tumble. Were the moment not so solemn it would be comic. These are the best soldiers with Satan's finest plan; yet one word from Jesus, and they fall down! The Roman guard becomes the Keystone Cops. Two hundred fighting men men collapse into a noisy pile of shields, swords, and lamps. Don't miss the symbolism here: When Jesus speaks, Satan falls. ... When Jesus says he will keep you safe, he means it. Hell will have to get through him to get to you. Jesus is able to protect you. When he says he will get you home, he will get you home."

Inspirational.
This is the best book I have ever read. I rarely give five stars but I'd like to have given this one more than five. It is uplifting, thought-provoking and instructive. I can't recommend this book highly enough.
