I purchased the slim external Blu-Ray drive (some of the reviews on this page appear to be for other products). It is indeed nice and slim, and comes with a USB3 connector. The drive itself works great, but BE AWARE that if you intend to watch Blu-Ray or DVD movies with this, you will need some form of software. Windows Media Player can play most DVDs, but will not play Blu-Ray. And many third party programs have problems with some Blu-Ray discs, due to content-protection methods installed on the dics themselves. I can get VLC to play some Blu-Ray movies, though I had to download the keys database and aacs dynamic library (search VLC Keys database aacs for files and instructions). But even with those steps, VLC wouldn't play some discs (Jurassic Park trilogy special edition blu-ray, for example). I did finally find a player that WILL play these stubborn discs though: check out Leawo! Worked without any hassle, it immediately detected the movie in the drive, and it's free. :]Summary: Good drive, works well right out of the box. You will need software to play Blu-Ray movies, and not all software can handle all Blu-Ray discs.

I got this thing yesterday. The instructions were printed on paper that was about the size of a large book of matches and contained several pages. The print was so small I needed the big magnifying glass and could still barely read it. I plugged it in and the system recognized it but that was it. I put in a Blu-Ray disk and nothing happened. I thought this was plug and play. I tried some trial play software and it still did not play. It took me a long time to figure out that if you want to play Blu-Ray (1080) or 4K Blu-Ray you need to buy special software. This was all done by trial and error and took hours to figure it out. It would not recognize one of my 4k disks by giving a message that said "No disk inserted".. The disk played on the Sony Player attached to the TV with no problem. Another 4k disk I tried played as it should. The next day I tried more Blu-Ray Diskss and every one I tried failed. I spent most of the day trying to make it work but was unsuccessful. I decided to return it. I am very glad there was a money-back guarantee.

Listing said it would read 4k disk. BULL. It DOES NOT READ 4K DISKS. Just a plain ole blue ray burner, which you can get much cheaper than 110.00.

This unit easily plays regular DVDs, but blue-rays are another story. After many attempts at playing blue-rays DVDs, I finally gave up. Beware this unit comes with hardly any documentation and no software to enable it to play blue-ray DVDs. If you don't mind spending another $69-$100 for software, then perhaps this is your unit. Given that most hardware these day's are plug-and-play, I fully expected this unit to work right out of the box. Very disappointed in my purchase!

Nice compact unit, but was unable to get it to stop disconnecting and reconnecting to the computer (Windows 10) - which caused a random beeping that interferes with the audio in any multimedia you might want to listen to. There does not seem to be any support for this product beyond what Amazon provides for returns. The packaging, product, and instruction manual never mentions VicTsing, any support contacts, or warranty information, and attempts to contact VicTsing about the random disconnects did not work, as the company seems to support businesses but not end users.

I have several laptops and tried on every single one of them. This thing wouldn’t play ANY Blu-ray or even DVD. I even tried it on one laptop that has internal Blu-ray and still nothing. Maybe it’s defective, I’m not sure, but it was crap for me. I’ve done everything I could to get it to work and I’m very tech savvy.

Completely unusable. Plugged it in, nothing happens. Push the eject button after plugging in, nothing. Go to device manager, sometimes it shows up under some generic serial number, but only for a few seconds before disappearing completely. Tried multiple USB ports (2.0 and 3.0), multiple PC's, all with the same disappointing result. Normally I stray away from obviously generic Chinese products on Amazon, but this one came with an Amazon recommendation and had 4.5 stars, so I thought for sure it had to be at least decent. As soon as I saw the generic packaging with laughably poorly translated English descriptions on the back, I knew this couldn't be good. As I process my return, I see that this product is no longer available and all the reviews are gone as well. Interesting to say the least.

The unit I received would not mount/play 4k blu-rays as advertised. I tried four different movies and two different windows 10 computers. I have software (CyberLink PowerDVD 17) that will play the 4k if the drive will mount it; but this system just sat there and flashed its light and never mounted any of the 4k blu-rays. It is now on its way back to amazon.
