Poor engineering makes for a disappointing build.
Some features of the kit—the engine, the cockpit—are fairly nice. Not Tamiya quality, but…nice. They are spoiled, however, by the poor engineering of the firewall/engine mount/cowling assembly, which is ridiculously difficult to assemble in such a way that everything fits cleanly at that stage of construction and later when it is all attached to the front of the fuselage.Other modelers had reported serious difficulties with this portion of the build, but I’m experienced and thought I could work through them. Uh, no. My results were so poor and my frustration was so great that I aborted the build, put everything back in the box and consigned it to the Shelf of Shame. So disappointing, because I really wanted a 1/32 Dauntless! It’s not going to happen for me—at least not with a Trumpeter kit. Perhaps Tamiya or Hasegawa will offer a version some day. I hope so.

NOT THE BEST QUALITY KIT
the part I disliked was the seller did not indicate this was the clear version of this kit, even the picture of the box it came in did not show it was the clear kit, if you look closely you can see where a close up photo of the box was taken to purposely omit this info. NO MORE MODEL TIME FOR ME,THIS INFO IS BEING POSTED TO ALL MODELERS ON THE WEB. A LITTLE MORE HONESTY GOES ALONG WAY.
