Sonata Forms 2e

Very good read however for me personally it would have been better if it wasn't a book one has to read chronologically. I was more hoping for a book with clearcut forms. So that one can just look up a form and have all the explanation for that form solely preferably listed.This book is a very good read for people interested in learning more about the history of every fomm, how every form has changed and developed over time and how much these forms are based on one another or have close relations. I really love the personal views of the writer who tries to be as historically correct as possible and possibly has roughened up some feathers writing this book. I'd say this is one of the best books out there if I had more experience in this area. Sadly I don't so I cannot compare this book to others I have read. I think Rosen has done a tremendous job and I gave it 4 stars because it isn't what I was looking for. But I will use this book later on in life and will keep using it.
