Don't worry, they loosen up as you wear them.
Like the title of my review says, these shoes will loosen as you wear them. The first time I put them on, I was a little concerned with how snug they were. I ordered my usual shoe size, against what some people have said on here, but I know how Columbias fit me. I'm glad I stuck to my guns. Even as I wore them around the house for a few minutes, they started to easy up on the snugness and now they're really quite comfortable. Now, I do have a narrow foot so if you have an average to wide foot I would make sure I order accordingly. These shoes have a great look to them whether you're wearing them out for a hike or with jeans when running errands. I'm thrilled with the purchase and would buy them again in a heartbeat.

Overall I like this shoe
Overall I like this shoe. I work 10 hour days and am on my feet a lot. Unfortunately there is no arch support in these, but I run into that often except with running shoes. With support inserts the shoe is a little tight even when I loosen up the ties. This was a little surprising because I purchased a shoe that was 1/2 a size larger than I normally get (a 6). I'm sure they will stretch out a little but I didn't have this problem with my last pair of Columbia trail shoes. This pair also isn't as breathable as my old pair. I think these shoes will be fine after I've worn them a bit. I do like the overall structure of the shoe and the color but I wish it had arch support. I don't like to write a review until I've used something for awhile but I keep getting review reminders which is annoying.

No Complaints
I purchased these because they still look like an athletic shoe and not a clunky pair of hiking shoes or boots. I always seem to have an issue with hiking shoes, usually in the heel and ankle area, but I was pleasantly surprised by these shoes. They were wide enough in the toe area to give my toes room to move and shift a bit while walking uphill over rocks and downhill over rocky terrain. They were wet plenty of times on our hiking trip all along the Irish coast, and I never had wet socks or that sloppy feet feeling. The best part for me is that I did not have any rubbing or blistering of my heel or ankle skin. I am really happy with these shoes. I purchased my normal size and found the sizing spot on.

Too Small
I have been wearing a size 7 in any type of shoe for years now. When I ordered these shoes, I figured it would be the same, even though most of the reviews said they ran small. I mistakenly wore these shoes for the first time on a 10 mile hike. I had blisters on my pinky toes and big toes on both feet, even though I wore the thinnest socks I could comfortably find.Although they did give me blisters, I would recommend this shoe as long as you go up .5 in your regular shoe size. They are very comfortable and are great protection against the elements (I wore them on a rainy day in Oregon and they did great).

Runs Very small!
I tried the 8.5 & 9 on in REI and they were a bit too small. I have NEVER in 46 years fit into anything larger than a 9. It is not uncommon for me to fit into a 8.5 or even 8 depending on the type of shoe, so when the 9s were snug I thought for sure the 9.5 would be adequate when I ordered them from Amazon . I wore them around for a few hours the day before a short 3 mile hike. After my hike my poor toes were so sore! The sizing is Way off. A 10 is probably what I needed.

Great outdoor shoes
Quality shoes for outdoors activity. Bought this for a hiking trip and they were paramount in my feet not feeling as sore as they should. I ran, climbed hills, rode on bicycle, worked at a kitchen for 5+ hours, kayaked, and these shoes deliver. The waterproof is quite good, used it during heavy rainfall and while trekking near to a few lakes, while of course it will not hold if completely submerged, otherwise does a great job keeping your feet dry. They fit as expected, I wear a 8.5 - 9 and bought this on a size 9.

I have wide feet and sometimes can wear regular shoes ...
They fit fine. I have wide feet and sometimes can wear regular shoes. These fit ok. The more I wear them, the more the tightness around the knuckles is easing, though I think they'll always be a bit firm, though not uncomfortable. My gripe is that they're not actually waterproof! I made absolutely sure these were listed as waterproof before I bought them, but a 10 minute walk in 3 inch grass has the tops of my socks starting to dampen up, and by the end of a couple of miles, my feet are flat out wet. I'm so disappointed since every other pair of Columbias that I've had has been great. Perhaps it's a defect? I'll be writing Columbia to complain.

Good shoe but runs small
I had previously tried on a pair of the Columbia Women's Redmond (non-waterproof) shoe and knew I needed to order half a size larger than I normally wear. Since I had not tried on the waterproof version of this shoe I was unsure what size to order. I had read multiple reviews from both Amazon and the Columbia site - about 75% of the reviews I read said to order a whole size larger. To play it safe I orders a 7.5 and and 8. And I would have to say that those 75% of people were correct, a whole size larger is the way to go in the waterproof. That being said, the size 8 fits comfortably and have worn them for several hours without any problems. I have yet to test how waterproof they are. I'm headed for a week of trail walking and hiking and will update my review as needed.
