Mutiny on the Amistad: The Saga of a Slave Revolt and Its Impact on American Abolition, Law, and Diplomacy

The book to me was really good. I liked how it would read as a facts based book and not some story about the whole ordeal. Very well researched and the writing was not technical at all for being a book by Oxford Press. Provides a good history and overview on the whole Amistad affair. Provides the political and social ramifications of how each played a role into how the whole event went down. I highly recommend reading it!

I was surprised it had a label from a library on it. I hope it isn't stolen!

Book has a lot of info presented in a sensible order but is obscenely dry and hard to read. Goes on for far too long, book could have been 1/3 the length and the same amount of information gotten across. No original thesis; it's just a compilation of data.If you are writing an IN DEPTH paper on the Amistad mutiny, you have found your book. For anything else, it's rubbish. You can get a better overview off Wikipedia.

Amazing story by an amazing writer. It was a very pleasant surprise and it was was difficult to put down. Big thumbs up especially for a historical writing that was required reading for my class.

Need to check the primary sources on this one. So much politics are involved that any word is suspect of being a political lie.

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK VERY MUCH. I AM INTO HISTORICAL BOOKS, ESPECIALLY ABOUT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. IT WAS A VERY GOOD BOOK TO READ.

if you have a short attention span, watch the movie instead. this is a book for people who like to read...and think.

Para ser un libro de historia con muchos detalles sobre la interpretación de la Constitución de los EEUU, la relación entre el estado federal y los estados de la unión, y sobre la aplicación de tratados internacionales, se lee bastante bien.El autor tiene un buen sentido de humor.Lástima que no haya version en castellano, porque España tuvo un papel importante en todo el proceso.
