Great product! Recommended!
My 2002 Jetta 1.8T just died and after a series of analysis, I came to the conclusion that the fuel pump was dead. It was a crisis because I still had to go to work. So I called auto shops around and even individual mechanics, they all quoted me something like $500-$600. It was a lot so I took a look at Amazon and found this product among others. The first thought that came across my mind was that why this was so cheap, like 3-4 times cheaper than others. Thanks to previous reviews, I decided to take a risk and ordered. Boy do I feel thankful about this. The product fitted right in and worked like a charm. My car started right up. I fixed the whole problem (pump, filter) for a total of $100 while the shops quoted me $500-$600 for the pump alone. As of now, there is no sign of problem yet. I will update after one month.I recommend you give this product a try because it works, is dirt cheap. What else do you want? Also, notice that this product does not come with the gasket so you should buy one with it. It's like $11.

Fantastic pump 10/10
I waited a month or two to post this review. After a few thousand miles was driven to prove its effectiveness. This pump is very good, it has not given me any issues and hasn't broken down since installation. Just keep in mind when installing to put on the leveler carefully and to snap together where the springs are (the top part, to the bottom part) completely or the pump will fail. Check out the pictures. Also, as you can see compared to the original it has less circuitry which the fuel level will be a little off but probably (the more yellow pictures) by an eighth of a tank if any at all. Well recomended for anyone with an MK4, or any other car that takes this pump. Very easy installation as well.

Remember to get a new gasket!
Installed in a 2001 VW Jetta GL with no problems. Very easy to install. As a tip though, make sure you have a quarter tank or maybe even less! It will spill some fuel and the first time I tried with a full tank.... I gave up. I installed this part to hopefully solve an intermittent loss of power (mostly on the freeway). For two weeks the problem has not resumed, but it has been absent for that length of time before. I will attempt to report back in a few months.Oh, another tip, seat the gasket in the hole of the gas tank first. I attempted to seat the gasket on the pump and then install both at the same time which did not work well. There is an excellent youtube video of the install.

Good Pump hit or miss sending unit.
The OEM pump is over $300.00, this is a hit or miss. The pump quality is ok and the fitment is good. The problem with this pump is the sending unit. Is not accurate. Mine is about 1/8 of a tank off. If your OEM sending unit is good just keep it, It is an easy swap and doesn't require cut or soldering wires. I will swap mine when I have the time. Really is no need to pay $300 or even over a $100 this pump does its job just keep in mine the sending unit issue.Update July 2016After year and half about 10k miles the pimp started to make a noise so is about to die. I just founded the oem VDO pump for $150 I'm going that route. This pump is not a reliable product. I'm a DIY mechanic and is an easy job to do it but if you are going to pay for the job definitely avoid this pump and pay a bit more because you are going to save that money in the future.

When you purchase a part like this, especially from a manufacturer that certifies its parts to a specific standard, you expect it to work. At least normally for a certain period of time.-The fuel sending level does not work until the tank has emptied to a half tank, but I'm thankful it at least works towards the empty side.-The pump fails intermittently when cold starting (just chokes)-The pump fails intermittently when driving. This is by far the sketchiest part of the pump. Nothing is worse than driving 70 MPH on the freeway and suddenly you have no power because the pump has failed.I bought it assuming there would be some deficiencies, considering the price, but I don't think the trade off of a couple hundred dollars is worth the potential risk while driving. Buy at your own risk. I am hoping to return this one, but I'm not sure how they operate.

I search all local store before I ordered from Amazon, 1st I saved myself over $200 from buy from Amazon even I paid for overnight shipping, 2nd the product fit just like the original I took out. 3rd it workMy other problem is the fuel filter, the car have over 100K and almost 10 yrs old, the filter it the main reason why the pump burn out, too much back pressure. As soon as I put in the new fuel filter, the car start right up

The pump works fine but the gauge does not work
I got this fuel pump for my 2001 VW Beetle. The pump works fine but the gauge does not work. I cannot tell the level of gas that's in my car. I have to estimate, depending on how much I drive as to when I should put gas in my car.

Does not fit my car
Do NOT buy this product if you have a VW Golf 2004 (2l engine)! Amazon matching indicated that this pump should fit my car but it did not. When the mechanic tried to install it, it almost fell through into the gas tank. I am returning it today and an Amazon representative said that both the cost and shipment will be reimbursed (I added 1 star for the service... otherwise it would only be 1 for waisting time).
