Square Terminal - Credit Card Machine to Accept All Payments | Mobile POS

The equipment far exceeds my former machine. I absolutely love the many financial transactions that are available as well as the speed it can deliver. It’s absolutely fantastic and Square works very well with my small business structure.

I recently purchased the Square Terminal and I’m very satisfied with it. The device is easy to use, fast, and allows me to accept all types of payments (card, tap, chip, and contactless). The screen is clear, and entering amounts is simple. It’s also very portable, so I can carry it anywhere for my business. The price is a bit high, but I think it’s worth it because it makes my work more professional and helps me serve customers faster. I have both a traditional merchant account with a large bank, and a Square account because my business travels and sometimes a phone line is unavailable for my Verifone machines. Up until this Square register purchase, my staff were using Square phone readers (the plug in kind) on their cell phones where traditional phone lines were unavailable. Not a big deal, but sometimes phone batteries would run down quick. Same thing with the Square bluetooth cube: battery can run down much quicker and sometimes BT would disconnect when trying to make a sale. Additionally some customers didn't feel comfortable with no printed receipt, or their card being swiped on someone's phone. SO..this terminal is VERY NICE! It works exactly the same and looks the same as the Square phone app & dashboard, so no learning curve for staff. It even prints receipts, which is nice because some folks still don't want receipts emailed or texted. This machine worked flawlessly right out of the box, and after a whole day of use the battery had barely gone down. You can easily connect to wi-fi anywhere. A power cord and accessories hub was included in my purchase, so even if the battery gets low, a quick plug in will keep you in business. The accessory hub allows you to connect via ethernet cable if you can't use wi-fi, and it also has USB ports so you can connect other devices, charge phones, etc. The machine has a substantial weight to it and seems sturdily built. I can't think of any negatives; I'm really surprised at how nice it is. I felt it was a little pricey but perhaps that is because it is new, and unlike traditional terminals, doesn't require your bank to download software. So it acts more like a computer than a regular terminal. The print quality is very nice, and in your Square dashboard you can add a custom message to your receipts. You will also see any items you have created in your dashboard so you can keep track of which items sell the most; you can see and print reports from the terminal as well. Time will tell if it will hold up but for the first day of business it was excellent and I am very pleased with my purchase.

I'll start by saying, I am new to square, and I underutilized this machine and all of it capabilities. I currently am solely using it for credit card processing. However, what I really like about this machine is that it's sleek looking, light-weight, easy to set-up, and processes a transaction SO quickly that the customer can't even keep up. It has a great battery life, and we use ours at least 20+ times a day on average and we only have to re-charge it every 2 days or so. I've found that making a return is very simple and does not require the card to be present to do so, simply find the desired transaction under any specific date and choose the amount you want to refund. The cards are stored for future reference automatically. I also like that you can look at the end of the days sales report and it tells you right there what your fees will be. I like that it is very well written out for you like that and the fees are very reasonable compared to what I had been paying in the past. My ONLY complaint is that the signature screen, even with a compatible stylus I purchased separately, sometimes glitches and sends lines shooting across the screen as a customer is signing. Otherwise, I love this machine, my customers love it, my emloyees loves it, and I will most likely find more ways to use the other fantastic features this unit offers.

Ordered this for our store, easy to setup. Already had our Square account setup, so connecting to our account was easy. Wi-Fi was also easy to connect to, nice thermal printer, easy to replace the paper when needed. Functions work great and shows everything just as our account does when we use a computer or laptop.

Nice handheld device but it doesn't pick up on mobile hotspots in the field. I bought this for my business doing outdoor events but nothing I did the device wouldn't pick up. Now it will if you want to take the chance of a card holder reporting fraud that you didn't correctly process their card. I don't so I returned it and bought the smaller square that works regardless of internet or not.

I was hoping to be able to create a transaction on the phone and pass it through to the terminal, but apparently that is not possible. Hopefully it will be a feature that can be added later through a firmware update. Also, you have to have a mobile hotspot (we do the farmers market), or wifi, to allow instant processing of transactions. Those 2 reasons are why I give it 4 stars. I would do 4.5 if possible because they are minor annoyances. I love that you can print a receipt from it and that it does all 3 methods of payments (chip, swipe and tap). We got it on sale for a great price and overall are happy with it. If something happens and that changes, I will update my review later, but for now, we like it.
