Beautiful color and great protection
This product is a great alternative to teak oil, which we had originally used to help protect our patio set from the elements. But then after a few months we noticed black spots all over the wood, and it was only then that we learned that the oil was "food" for mold and mildew. After using a teak cleaner to get rid of the black spots and residual oil, we tried the Golden Care Teak Protector and have been very pleased with the results. The color is beautiful, and water beads right up on the finish. The best part was how easy and fast it was to apply and how quickly it dried. A disposable cup to pour out small amounts at a time and a foam brush worked perfectly. Wiping the brush on the edge of the cup first helped remove excess product to prevent drips and brush lines. A little went a very long way, and the protector went on smoothly with no streaks, lines, or uneven color. Everything was completely dry and usable within a couple hours. It was also great to not have to worry about the potential for spontaneous combustion as with oil-based products. We only wish we had known about this product from the start, but we are so happy to have a much easier maintenance option to keep our furniture looking great for the long-term.

Works well!
Used this last week. I bought a used teak outdoor set, cleaned with vinegar and dawn dish soap, sanded and let it dry. I applied two thin coats as stated. Great color and went on well. I highly suggest you use a foam brush. I started with a soft cloth, but it soaks up and dries to quickly. The foam brush worked really well ! I used about 1/2 of the bottle on a chair and two seat bench with back. No sure how long it will hold up, it says once a year.

Easy to use! Makes furniture look new!
I do almost no home improvement on my ownโฆI donโt own any electric tools. But for some crazy reason, I thought I would try restoring a bunch of beaten up teak furniture that was left behind from the prior owner of my house. Itโs super old and has been through hot summers and snowy winters. First I used a cleaner/brightner (with a different product that I got from a local store). I tried to use teak oil on one table and afterwards read that itโs actually better to use a protector than teak oil. So I bought this product, and I am so glad I did!! I do recommend taking the time to clean your teak furniture as well as possible before you use the protector. Also definitely put down a sheet of plastic to protect the floor when applying. I used a soft cloth for a small table but I found that the liquid would fall off of it and then when I would wipe the wood, more would be concentrated where I first put the cloth, and it was harder to spread. It was do-able with a small table, but for a chair, I decided to go with a cheap foam brush. I poured the protector into a plastic container (small one like painters use). This method made in super easy to wipe it on and spread it out. Be sure to watch for splashes and drops and brush them out so that you donโt get dark drip marks on the wood. It dries pretty fast so you have to watch as you go. Iโm super happy with this product and would highly recommend.

works but does change wood color to a darker kinda artificial honey brown.
we used this on some teak deck furniture that had weathered and bleached but not greyed at all. Pre-treatment, it was kind of a light tan, sandpaper color. It was nice but we knew it would turn gray. I waited till the wood was bleached slightly because I figured this product would darken it. Application was easy, with a cloth and foam brush and it leaves a matte finish. But it does, without any doubt, change the color and make it a little artificial looking. It's not bad but it is different. They call it "honey brown," and it has a slight tint of orange which makes it less appealing. It does look like honey. When it rains, there are spots where water seems to seep in so it may need another coat but these disappear when the product dries. The product works, and I assume it will wear off in about a year when it will need refinishing, and it may naturalize a bit but I'm worried it may be uneven as it weathers. I don't yet know how well it will prevent the teak from greying. Will update. Wanted a finishing paste wax sort of finish w/o any additional colorants but that may be a tall order for an outdoor product that offers UV protection.

Save my Teaky-A
Great product. We have a teak extension table that expands to seat 12...that's a lot of Teak real estate up keep. We live in the North Bay (north of San Francisco) where the climate is moderate, but we do get some winter/spring with heavy rain. Golden Care Teak has saved my teaky-a** going on 3 years now. I won't go into the ignorant things we did thinking we could "get by" without covering and protecting our outdoor teak furniture...even covered teak furniture will suffer if not treated well. In comes Golden Care Teak and Hardwood Protector. In a "bad" year (uncovered in winter), some cleaning and sanding along with this product and our patio teak furniture is looking fabulous. And, just to be clear....brand new teak is NEVER going to stay that pretty....But this product makes the investment worth it.

Great stuff
I didn't get the 'Golden Care' brand, but I believe that one manufacturer makes the same product and sells it under several different brand names for furniture stores, so it didn't bother me at all. I bought a new teak patio set, assembled it and let it sit outside for 2-3 months (I read somewhere that you should let it be outside for at least 2 weeks before applying a protectant like this). I then washed the set with a soft brush and a bit of Dawn dishwashing liquid, hosed it down and let it dry for a day before getting up early to beat the heat and applying the product. I ran a fine grit sandpaper block over rough patches of wood or areas where there was a bit of staining first. It took me 2 hours to do 6 chairs and a large table, but the product went on easily and I still have 1/2 bottle left for next time. I took the photos during and immediately after the application process. The darker, golden-orange areas were the 'after treatment' shots. The lighter wood areas are the 'before'. It has been about 2 months since applying the protectant now. The set isn't as beautiful-golden as it was right after application, but it definately isn't silvering out like unprotected teak. I'm very happy with the product and will buy it again. --------- EDIT: I came back to leave a review and found my review from 8 years ago! I come back every 2 years and use a teak cleaner/brightner product and then apply a coat of this protectant (2 coats on the top as it gets lots of UV exposure). I just added 2 new photos after this year's cleaning (of a now 8 year-old table). The 2 photos that have green at the top of them are the 8 year-old table photos... the others are of the table when it was new. It's hard to tell the difference! I'll keep using this stuff. It does a great job. I might start adding a coat of it every spring with a cleaning/brightening/protectant treament every other year.

beautiful warm honey colour
Loved this product. Applied this after sanding and cleaning (with a different brand teak cleaner) our patina grey teak patio table and chairs. Withstood more than a dozen rainy days and it still looks as good as when we first applied the protective coating. Will have to see how it does by next summer!

Good teak sealer.
I bought this sealer to seal my new teak garden bench and table. Very pleased with the results. Two coatings applied. Has been tested due to recent heavy rains. The bench and table dry very quickly.
