Embracing the Awkward: A Guide for Teens to Succeed at School, Life and Relationships (Teen girl gift)

A fantastic book for introverts
We bought this for our 14 year-old son Jason, who is an extreme introvert. He had trouble making friends, or even talking to girls, and spent most of his time in his room playing video games. Just one year ago, he didn't seem to be interested in other people whatsoever. That all changed when Joshua came to his school and gave a talk earlier this year. I don't know what he said, but afterwards Jason became very vocal about "being his best self", and asked us to buy this book. Of course, WE became excited about him finally taking an interest in his social life, so we ordered it for him immediately!Fast-forward four months, and the transformation is almost unreal. Jason now has a group of friends he regularly plays cards with, is doing better in school, and in general seems a lot happier. He's even going to the movies with a girl this weekend! I'm certain this book is not solely to blame, but I have to give credit where credit is due. Thank you Joshua!

This Book is so helpful!
This Book was really helpful! It had a lot of good advice and information, it really helped me with life and to find myself since I am really shy and awkward myself. I really enjoy Josh's YouTube channel so that's why I bought this book. I recommend this book to any teens who are struggling with life and having a hard time fitting in and I also recommend this book to anyone who are parents of teenagers so it can help you bond with your child more easily and help you understand them a little bit more.

Good buy
I bought this for my son in middle school to help deal with his emotions and middle school life, which can be difficult for some kids. After reading this he came out of his shell more and began to hang out with more kids. I believe this book helped.

Not engaging for me as a teacher, would bomb with my students
I was looking for a book to help some of my struggling students. I just could not get into this. Unfortunately or fortunately, the author has had very little personal experience with ACEs so many kids who would benefit from a book like this wouldn’t be able to identify with him.

This book is a really good read. I bought it for my little brother who has been having a hard time navigating the turbulent teen years. I wish it were around when I was a teen.
