Sturdy, attractive, inexpensive!
Stumbled across this LUXA2 Thermaltake H4 Aluminum Portable Fold-Up Stand for Apple iPad, Galaxy Tab, Kindle Fire, Playbook, Xoom, Toshiba, Acer, Nook and Other Tablets, LH0006 listing and had to take advantage; these originally sold for four times the current price. While I just received mine and can't attest to how it will hold up over time (I will update as needed), first impressions are that it's well-constructed, sturdy, lightweight and flexible. The stand's curious "chicken carcass" arm design means it can grip my iPad 3 with/without case, my Kindle Fire HD 7" or my Nook Simple Touch with equal ease. The straight, rubber covered pins or "fingers" adjust to grip the sides of your tablet regardless of device or case thickness/depth. The left and right sides of the "chicken carcass" move independently, which permits accommodation of different width devices and their cases. Once you have adjusted the arms to grip your device, you can easily rotate it forward and back, or a full 360 degrees left/right (for landscape mode). The center has a black silicone pad to help hold your device in place and to protect it from being scratched by the aluminum stand. While the main photo shows the stand with the base facing away, the "slot joint hinge", as LUXA2 describes it, allows rotation of the "arms" to face the other side, which then properly mimics the positioning of an iMac stand. According to LUXA2's site, the slot joint hinge has been tested and found to maintain 85% torque after 20k times full range operation. The underside of the base is edged with light grey (rubber?) to provide traction and to protect whatever surface you place the stand upon.I'm a big fan of device stands that mimic the look of my iMac. I already use an Elago M2 Stand/Dock For iPhone 5/4S/3GS/1G Angled Support for FaceTime (Silver) for my iPhone (although LUXA2 also makes the more expensive Thermaltake Luxa2 H1 Touch Aluminum Mobile Holder for iPhone 1G and 3G/3GS ). It is nice to finally own an attractive yet affordable stand for my various tablets.

Nice product, poor service
The product is well made, sturdy and does the job. Unfortunately Thermaltake's customer service doesn't make the grade. I had a small problem with the cradle when I removed it from the box. On the two lower legs there are rubber pads mounted just above the pegs that stick out to support the iPad. I'm not sure why they're there since the iPad does not touch them when mounted in the cradle. In my case one of the rubber pads was not attached, nor was it loose in the box. OK, it's a little piece of rubber, but it's supposed to be there and it wasn't. I don't want to return the cradle over this so I drop Thermaltake an email and ask if they could send me another rubber pad and I would stick it to the leg and live happily ever after. What I got back was a long email which outlined Thermaltake's RMA process. I think there is less involved with returning a car to GM.I wrote again and said that I just needed THE LITTLE RUBBER PIECE. They write back "OK, we will send it". What they sent was little and made of rubber but bore no resemblance to the piece I was looking for.Solution. I peeled off the other pad so as to maintain balance in my life.

LUXA2 H4 Aluminium iPad holder
A good addition to my iMac setup allowing me to hold my iPad when using it as a secondary display via the Air Display APP.Though the holder can accommodate the iPad with the standard iPad case fitted it does work better on a naked iPad. Rubber coverings prevent any damage to the iPad and the sturdy base ensure the unit will not tip or tumble.Rotates through 360 degrees so you can position the iPad anyway you want. The aluminium matches well with other Apple products, A well made, sturdy and elogant piece of hardware.

If You're Looking For A Great Stand For Your iPad This Is It!
Been looking online at several stands that would allow me to use my iPad as a 3rd monitor while I worked at my desk but really didn't want something made out of plastic that would be wobbly or something that looked cheap or fragile. Now I know the old adage of "You Get What You Pay For" but I really couldn't justify some of the prices I found for other stands made of metal. ($60, $70, and up)So imagine how surprised I was when I found this stand for less than $16 right around the Holidays. It's made of sturdy metal and allows the iPad to be rotated 360° and angled from front to back to allow you to look down on the device with the stand sitting on your desk. Exactly what I was looking for...but why was the price so low? After owning this stand for a few weeks now I couldn't be happier and I'm glad I bought it when I did. The price has inched up a few dollars but I may still grab a second one for use at home. It arrived fully assembled and ready to go. None of the moving points are loose and it holds the iPad steady on my desk allowing my to use the device without worrying about it tipping over or the iPad falling out. Haven't even removed the covering on the sticky pad for the back of the iPad since the rubber "fingers" seem to be working just fine.If you need a solid stand that rotates, pivots, and looks pretty darn cool on your desk you can't go wrong with this one. I'm honestly happy I gave it a shot.

Can not leave iPad in protective case
I was excited to recieve this stand as it appeared to be, from everything I read and watched, everything I wanted. It does indeed spin completely around and tilt to every angle you could need and that alone is terrific. The draw back that leads me to 3/5 stars is that contrary to what I had read you can not safely leave your iPad in a protective case and have this stand hold it securely in place. It slides out.

Absolutely wonderful
The stand makes using my iPad a delight. It sits right on my table where I eat, read the paper and do all my paperwork. All my friends are impressed with it's great style. It is so easy to type at this height. Recommend it to anyone who doesn't carry their iPad around with them a lot.
