...it is rare that a product can be so satisfying in how well it works. This Coupler works great. Some real thought went into the engineering of this product. I would suggest possibly looking at an alternative to the name VizGiz as it doesn't help much with the description of the product and may make some people laugh.

These have a split in the silicone rubber gasket so that you can slide them over your already terminated cable. Holy hell, they actually got it right. I've ran into waterproof connectors that come with cameras that you have to slide the cable through the silicone gasket BEFORE you add the connector on the end...90% of the time i would forget, and have to cut the end off and re-terminate it. (looking back, i guess i could just cut a slit in them....ohh well, I did it right) These are high quality and worked great with my blue iris machine and dahua/amcrest POE cameras.

A smaller, equally capable unit in white finish would be helpful for residential security camera installations. There is often fewer options for placement so cosmetics and/or hide-ability are always considerations. That said, the provided units have withstood nasty winters, icing, wind and remained serviceable. Thanks!

This RJ45 coupler is a must have if you need an extension which needs to withstand extreme weather. I am using this on a security camera in which the ethernet cable was cut short. I bought this because I live in a place with extreme rain and cold weather. I have been using it for about a month with no issues. So far, it has withstood rain, wind, heat and freezing temperatures. I ran precrimped cable through the waterproof sides and it fit easily without having to cut and recrimp the cable after it was through the plastic part. Overall, it is worth buying if you plan to use it outside.

Someone else warned us, but this wont fit the 2 cables I need to connect due to the connector protectors on the cables. I modified this coupler to accept the cables by: 1. Filed out a passage in the 2 fittings that need to pass the connector. 2. Added an oring to the threads to pussh the seal holder out more. 3. Modified the cable seal with an exacto blade to make an undercut for the cable strain relied. To do this I unwrapped the seal and held it with a woodworking clamp, then cut about half way through. 4. Cut off the clip on the cable that helps release the connector. A lot of mods to make it work, that should be part of the design already.

Attention all Internet installation techs: please be smart and just add one of these to the process if the cable is connected anywhere on the outside of the building. Simple, cheap, effective.

I needed to repair a Cat 5 cable that is outside. The internal connections in the coupler were far enough apart so that I could put connectors on the ends of the cable where it had been cut and plug them into the coupler. There was actually a little slack to the cable after the repair.
