I nice extension, with one big issue.
I run electrical wires through walls, which requires drilling holes through studs. Often this requires the use of a right angle drill, and then using a bit extension (like this one) with a drill bit to drill through several studs (sometimes as many as five thick, underneath two adjoining windows, for example). After having used this as well as several other extensions for a while, I would have to rate the Irwin above this one (the Titan). Here is the good and the bad:Advantages:The black sleeve around the shaft allows you to hold and guide the extension more easily since the sleeve can be held (not too tight) in a still/steady position as the shaft rotates inside of it. This is a nice feature and something not seen on any other competing model I have foundThe steel seems very high quality - I don't think this extension will ever break. The locking mechanism holds the bit very well (except for the one big exception noted below) and there is little play in the bit when it is locked in place.Disadvantage:The only significant disadvantage, and why I prefer the Irwin, is related to the gold colored tip in the front used to release the bit. The problem is that to release you pull the gold sleeve forward (towards the bit) which releases it and lets the bit fall out. The problem is that if you use this extension with a 3/4 or 5/8 drill bit for drilling a deep hole, that gold sleeve will almost always catch on something when you are pulling the drill bit back out, causing your drill bit to fall into the wall or out into deep inside the hole. I ran into this problem a dozen times or so before I finally gave up and started using the Irwin extension. Just for reference, on the Irwin extension, there is a "nosecone" that does not move, and the ring to release the bit is pulled back rather than forward. It is impossible (or nearly impossible) to accidently release the Irwin bit with their design.

Much better than competitor brands -- one handed bit insertion!
I have had a 6" Titan extension for several years. I love it because you just push the bit in to lock it--you don't need to pull the lock ring down separately. Other brands (like ARES) look identical but are not--you must use both hands to insert the bit. I recently ordered a couple ARES but gave them away and ordered Titan extensions after realizing they are more difficult to change bits.

Good quality Well made
I only gave this product 4 stars because it doesn't turn freely within the outer covering. And the chuck makes the end larger than a normal bit driver would be, making it not fit in those tight spaces it could otherwise fit in. On the positive side I found these items (I bought all three, 18, 12, and 6"), to be well made and after fitting a bit into the chuck, I did realize the need to have a firm hold, more so than just a magnetic hold if you attempting to reach into a tight space not otherwise reachable. You don't want the bit to come out of the end of the driver. I suppose its a trade off for a no release hold you have a larger end to fit the bit in, ie chuck. I like these items and feel they are well worth the price. The friction within the outer covering I don't really understand but it is there and so I will have to be careful if used with a drill not to use for extended time on a high speed due to possible heat issues. I have found so far the Titan name means quality tools and accessories and these are no exception. I expect them to last a very long time.

Thus this is a good tool to have
The extension bit did the job. I would have given this 2 or 3 stars because it doesn't hold the bit tight and straight. The drill wobbled. However, I gave it 4 starts because the plastic housing was a major help when trying to drill with a long bit. You need to hold onto the bit and if that plastic housing wasn't there, I would be holding onto a spinning shaft. Thus this is a good tool to have.

great extender!
I ordered the Titan 6" and 12" Quick Release extension bit holder to replace the ones that my roommates stupid boyfriend broke with out an apology! I am very happy with the quality of these extenders the quick release utilizes a nice rare earth magnet in couple with the gold color locking barrel you see in the picture for a great hold on your bits and the black shaft spins freely so you can hold it while in use to help guide your drilling or screwing, all in all a great product so far and I would definitely recommend it

It is so so
The quick release feature will be destroyed with a impact Drill so if that is something you really want I wouldn’t buy

Great extension!!
I already have 2 of the 6" version of these and I love them. This is great for the times you just need to be a foot away from the fastener. The sleeve rotates freely so you can use your hand to balance the drill.I can definitely recommend this and the 6" version as well.

There are better options available
Im fairly happy with the extension. Its going to be good for the home user but for a job site I would not choose this extension. It fails to release the bit after only seeing a couple days of hard use. I have other extensions that I've used 100s of days that are still going strong. So if younplan on using this more than a couple days look for another brand.

Great for the occasional user
For the everyday person it's good to have for the odd times you need it. I wouldn't want to rely on it for professional use though.. The magnetic lock and keyless bit change tip is nice to have, but it doesn't lock tight. The bit will wobble and if you have to reach for where you're drilling or screwing/unscrewing with one extended arm, you might have a difficult time. I needed this for a shallower angle when drilling, not for reach. I was able to hold onto the shaft to help stabilize it while drilling. Speaking of which, the sleeve around the shaft is a great feature. You can hold it while the shaft spins inside.

Impressed
I've never heard of the Titan brand before, so I didn't expect much of this item. I am sort of speechless by the quality of the build. Bear in mind this is a rather simple construction but they've got everything right. The top bit holder magnet is stronger than my Picquic. What seems to be a ball bearing lock works smoothly. And the black part you see, it's actually a free spin sleeve. The only thing I am worried about is dirt getting under said sleeve. But even then, you'd only have to undo the retaining ring and clean it.///Je n'ai jamais entendu parler de cette compagnie auparavant, alors les attentes n'étaient pas trop élevés.

Good fit and finish, quality item.
Good tool to have in your arsenal when you are dealing with tight spaces to work in or just need the reach.Good attention to detail. Would have loved it if it was impact ready.
