Ballistic Tough Jacket Case for the LG Nexus 5 D820/D821 released 2013 - Retail Packaging - Black/White

This is the best protection I have found so far for my Nexus 5. I deliver packages all day (Brown Truck) and carry my phone in my pocket where it is constantly bumped (sometimes very hard) by items I am carrying. Also Have dropped the phone off of my nightstand onto a hardwood floor a few times and the phone has not been damaged. The only thing I am worried about is the bottom of the case. There is only a small section of rubber between the USB port and the screen which looks like it may break if it gets caught on something. I do not know if it could have been designed any better as the USB port and speakers are all in the same area and there does not seem to be room for a thicker peace of rubber. Maybe the rubber between the USB port and the screen could of had some other type of rigged support under or over this section rubber.

Picked one of these up after my Nexus 5's case started to fall apart after 7 years. Packaging was a plastic clamshell design that popped open easily, the case is 2 pieces, a squishy rubber inner layer and a hard plastic outer shell that clamps everything down. all the buttons, ports and screen real estate are unobstructed, The overall thickness is basically doubled over the original Nexus 5, but it feels fine in the pocket and the hand, and is a lot better than dealing with a cracked screen when you inevitably drop it. It even lets the QI wireless charging work through the case. Only complaint is a lack of included screen protector, but i was able to save that off my old case and integrate it into the new one, meaning that other screen protectors will work fine with the case and the nexus 5, adding to the protection. It's a bit chunky, and you need to add a screen protector, but if you still have a Nexus 5 and need a case, this one's pretty good.

Overall it's a great case and I'm surprised how slim it still feels for a hybrid case. Don't get me wrong, it adds bulk to your phone, but it's not too bad for the amount of protection it provides.Pros:Sturdy protectionFeels good in the handPower and rocker volume buttons feel seemlessNo mic/speaker interference issuesCons:The soft part of the case along the top front face of the phone and particularly along the bottom front face of the phone is very flimsy. The bottom edge continuously pulls away from the phone face when I take it out of my pocket, and with repeated use I imagine it will only become more loose. Not sure how they could redesign it to work better. The speaker and USB holes on the bottom really cause the flimsy construction. Maybe continue the hard shell down there?

When I first purchased my Nexus 5 I searched for a Ballistic case but none could be found at that time. I settled for a couple other cheaper cases found here on Amazon. While my Kayscase provided sufficient protection I wanted something more substantial and purchased the I-Blason Armorbox. I was extremely disappointed with that case as it felt very cheaply made.So, I went searching again for a better case. And that's when I happened upon the listing for the Ballistic case. I am familiar with Ballistic as my previous phone had a Ballistic case and I have been extremely satisfied with it. The case provides best in class protection and it feels very solid in your hand. That Ballistic case was built like a tank and this one is as well.The plastics don't feel cheap like many of the competitors cases do. And, the fit is absolutely perfect with all buttons and ports lining up perfectly. If there was anything that could be improved upon it would only be for Ballistic to create a case similar to the Otterbox cases with a built in screen protector. But that is a minor quibble and this case will provide better protection than any others currently available for the N5.I would recommend highly recommend Ballistic.

I have always enjoyed the Ballistic sieres of cases for all devices but personally I still find the bulkiness of the case and texture of the material (granted I know that's the design purpous for the case) a bit much for daily in pocket use. Dust and fibers collect easily on the rubber, and the material wears down very quickly and becomes smooth with regular use. Also it doesn't regulate heat very well and I found myself removing the case to use my wireless charger due to the temperature of the phone with the case on it. I still think Ballistic cases are great, just not for this guy... Cheers!

I bought this as an upgrade from a less robust "hybrid" case that was all that was available during the first few weeks the Nexus 5 was on the market.This Ballistic case is excellent. It fits perfectly, and was easy to install the phone within, due to its design. There is a pliable rubber inner carrier that snaps into a hard plastic back, which also forms the sides of the case. You separate the two pieces, easily slip the phone inside the rubber layer, then snap that into the plastic part.The power and volume buttons make perfect contact with the phone's controls.The inlets around the audio and micro USB jacks are large enough to use standard 1/8" (3.5mm) audio and micro USB plugs. No special slim audio plugs or slim-plug USB cables, or adapters, required. Are you taking notes, Spigen?There are small holes on the sides so that this case can clip into a holster that Ballistic also sells.This is one of the best cases for the Nexus 5 that you can get.

One word. Awesome. I went through so many eBay cases for my Nexus 5 and what a lot of people neglect to mention here(some do) is that the buttons are SO easy to push. That is really my biggest issue with so many other cheapies. This thing is super comfy and two pieces. The rubber silicone skin slips nicely over then the hard rugged plastic snaps right on. Ports are easily accessible. I just literally threw 3 other cases in the trash. eBay had this same case for over 20 bucks but got it cheap here and I'm very happy with it. If there was anything bad and it's not a huge deal is that the plastic is a bit slippery. If they added some rubber to the outside plastic it would have made this case even better.

Works Great!! I am a phone dropper... I unfortunately drop it a lot. This case has definitely saved me from having to get a new phone. I think it looks pretty good too. The only small complaint, but I can't see any way around this, is that sometimes it's hard to touch something on the screen that is right at the very edge. It's a very small problem and totally worth it for the protection I get.

I bought this for my mom after giving her my old phone, and seeing that within a week she had dropped it and cracked the screen.Between this case and a tempered glass screen protector, she hasn't managed to destroy the hand me down phone, yet.

This cell phone case is doing a great job so far. I have dropped my cell several times already, and so far not even a scratch. Be warned, it is bulky, but I was looking for something that works for clumsy me, so I am okay with the size.

does everything u need it to except dust like to gather around the edges of the rubber parts.

Very sturdy case. It will provide very good protect for the phone.
