Quite the opposite: the new fabric layer begins to peel away and roll up at the edges fairly quickly and eventually this renders the insert no longer functional. In contrast, I have a couple of the original ones that still function perfectly even after many, many years. However, this is really a small concession in the larger picture. Other inserts have even a shorter functional life and don't offer near the performance and comfort. I'm just grateful that these have remained and are still available today. I have tried other brands including ones double or tripple the price, but none have equaled (much less surpassed) the UltraSole in my experience.
