Awesome
My dog uses this everyday and night - She runs hot - she is an aussie shag mix - she alternates between this and her waterbed but this one stays in her "den" and she loves it!! She prefers this one over our bed!! It did get a small tear on it from rough play with my sisters dog but I duck taped it and flipped it over - I do need to just replace it now that they have matured a little more- I have no problem paying the price for this item - I am happy with my purchase - I love that it folds up for travel which we do take once a month with us to Reno and on any other road trips - while the heavy water bed has to stay home - don't hesitate to get this if your dog runs hot! It keeps the dog cool upon touch -

My Hot, Hairy Dog Likes It
We have a VERY hairy dog who gets really hot in the warm weather even with the a/c running. This cooling mat helps him be more comfortable when he's napping. It seems pretty durable - our dog likes to dig his bed but so far the gel mat has held up to the abuse, although we need spare covers because he constantly rips the thin cotton cover it comes with. Still, you wouldn't want a thicker cover or the cooling effect would be lost. The cover is machine washable. All in all, this is a great product for making our dog's day a little easier.Tip: After about a half hour the cooling effect is lost, so when your dog gets up from his nap it helps to put the cooling mat on a ventilated surface like the top of a wire dog crate in order to get it "recharged" quickly.

The best cooling mat I have found that my Great Pyrenees will actually use
So... I live in Florida and I have a Great Pyrenees. YES, I can hear you from this side of the key board: What were you thinking bringing a snowy mountain dog with a dual fur coat to the tropics? Just so you know, I didn't. She is a rescue. That said.... a cooling mat is something most of my dogs have needed here. I am typically a Rottweiler girl and they too need a cooling mat in FL.So a Pyr is a very paranoid of all noises that are not a norm for them. They have damn near bionic hearing and that caused issues with many options I tried previously.***** PROs *****+ My dog will actually get on it so there's that+ It is lighter weight and more easily folded and moved than water filled versions+ It actually does stay cool for about 15 to 20 minutes at a use ( I tried it myself, hey for those of us with hot flashes, this is a great option, in fact I might buy another for myself+ I like the size as others were narrower and this one allows for her to move around to another section if it starts to not be cool.+ Gel version is MUCH better than the water filled options that leak eventually ( and never when you are home in my experience ).+ Quality mat but you do need to put a cover as dog nails will eventually wear on the coating if you leave it uncovered. At least that is my belief from using other gel mats.***** CONs *****- a little spendy- non-standard size makes it hard to get covers other than the stiff material from the mat maker and they don't have other options.- A cover should come with it rather than selling it separately. We have to buy two so you have one to wash and one clean.

It fits
It works great. I have a 16 yr old Shihtzu that slid on the surface of the cool mat. This cover took care of that. Happy girl

A must-have for my dog in Hawaii!
I got the smaller size, plenty of space for my 17lb poodle/terrier mix Dottie to spread out in her signature "sploot"(not pictured) This is a must-have for us because we recently moved to Hawaii with no AC and my poor girl is a black fluffy dog. She sleeps on this randomly throughout the day, but especially as soon as we get back from a walk so I know she finds it refreshing and helpful to cool down.I will say, I only used the cover for a day because I felt like it might be cooler without. It has gotten a bit dirty, but I don't really mind. The biggest stain was my fault, I left a ice cube on it that melted away, but in the mat's defense I also haven't tried to clean it.She also scratches it sometimes before laying down (as if she was digging a hole) and there are some light scratch marks but no damage at all and we've had it for almost 6 months. Would definitely recommend!!

It's just a cloth with a "pocket" - no zipper closure
I feel like this was over-priced for what you get. It's a fairly thin piece of cloth (which I kind of get because it's for a cooling mat), but I feel like pillow cases are thicker, more durable and softer than these. I got 2 of them so the bed would always be covered while I wash the other cover, and 1 already has a hole in it! I'm not someone who can sew, but definitely thought that this is something I should have made rather than bought (which really says something if you knew me). I will probably try to find something else, or just use the bed without a cover.

Gel pad cover
I thought this would be a sturdier cover, its basically like a pillow case, kind of cheap, ripped at seam after 1st use. Its also a dust/hair magnet. I wish it was thicker and a different material. I have to vacuum or wash pretty regularly. You can't just shake it off. Picture is after 2-3 days of use. Time to clean again. I wish I could just shake off and wash once a week.
