Tamed to His Hand

Leave it to Ms. Carolyn Faulkner to write a dark, edgy story, which we really don’t know what the time frame would be. Imagine a time where there are ruling countries, still at war with one another, and each country has its own way of governing. In one, Dahkiry has a King and his wife the Queen and their daughter, Crowned Princess Fialah, who even in her country has defied convention, has trained as a warrior and has lead men into two successful battles. She doesn’t know the word no and is a free spirit, one who trains daily and cares for her own horse. Then there is the Vylerans, who are feared by all. They have a strong army and have a reputation in battle. The plot will have the King of Vylera send his man, Master Weks, with a message to King Saeban that he has come to claim Fialah. The message includes the warning that if they try to resist, that it will mean death to all. There is nothing they can do but acquiesce to Master Weks who will retrieve Fialah and start training her in the ways of the Vyleran people, where women are subservient to men. “Aside from having a well-deserved reputation for being warlike, there was one other thing that Vylerans were known for—they were strictly male dominant—so much so that few beyond their society had ever seen a female Vyleran. Rumors abounded, though, that their women were kept in subjugation to their men, with little choice and few freedoms in regards to anything about their lives.” Master Weks must train Fialah to stop thinking as a crowned princess, a seasoned warrior, and to learn humility, and submission for her new people and especially for her husband, the king. She will be striped, punished, must learn their customs, their language, their culture, and accept her new lot in life—more for her Father’s kingdom, than for herself. “The only person you need to make happy is your husband. “The rest of the world—Dahkiry included—had a very narrow view of Vylera that was now widening drastically for her. What she did or didn’t do or learn or say right could cost everyone she knew and loved their very lives, and she wasn’t at all sure that being the king’s wife would save her from that fate—or worse—either.” The story is forced submission, extreme punishments, humiliation, exhibition, dominance and submission, dubious consent and power exchange. The ending was a complete and pleasant surprise.

This short read was quite steamy and entertaining. I liked Fialah and Master Weks and I enjoyed the pull of their attraction and the sparks generated by their chemistry. This book features hot scenes that feature power exchange and disciple. So if that's a no-no for you this is not the book you want. I do wish there had been deeper development to the characters, the story and much more emotional depth. However, as it stands it was still a fun read. By my own choice I am posting a sincere review.

Loved everything about this book. The discipline was delish for an Alpha female used to being in charge. Not boorish from a selfish, inconsiderate brute, but someone concerned about his mate fitting into his world. The last chapter as she developed a strong, sweet bond with her MIL was icing and the cherry on top!

I have always enjoyed Carolyn Faulkner ‘s books and this one was no exception - good story line, characters I could grow to like, kept my attention - until the end. What a complete let down and anti climax! Questions were not answered and what should have been the final big sex scene disappeared altogether. I think my disappointment was made greater because I enjoyed the beginning of the book so much. Anyone who enjoys a strong ending should be wary.

A really enjoyable experience reading this book. I loved all of it. The author did a marvelous job with describing the feelings of the characters and their emotions sexually and help make the story line very interesting. I have not read a lot of books by this author but will certainly be reading more of ms, Faulkners work.

This is a wonderfully fast paced short story from one of the best spanking romance authors in the business. In this story we follow the training of a Dahkiry Princess (Fialah) in the ways of the Vylerans, who’s King she has been betrothed to. The training is conducted by the King’s emissary, Master Weks, and is very harsh with many, many, severe spankings. Fialah is the epitome of a Princess, always expecting and getting her way and had never been disciplined in any manner by her parents. This does not play well with Master Weks, a firm believer in strict discipline. It is at times hard to read, as Master Weks seems to be far too severe with Fialah, but he claims it is to prepare her for what could be even worse if she does not change her ways and learn to submit to the needs and wants of the King, in the manner that the people of Vylera expect. Culture shock indeed! Throughout, we have our suspicions about Master Wek, and they are borne out in the closing segments. All in all, a first class short story. The only thing holding me back from giving a full five star rating is that the story didn’t go far enough (the wedding night and beyond), but perhaps that will be the starting point of another book. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

What a delicious read. Trust obedience protection classics in their own rights but woven together under the talented pen of Carolyn Faulkner - this is a great read.

The princess, a strong woman, was completely subjugated by Master Weks. She was forced to give up everything she had worked for all her life. and was basically made into a sort of ISIS captive, with all her hopes and plans---ruling her kingdom Wisely one day---thrust aside as she was forced to become the "wife" of a foreign king. Nice twist at the end, but she basically became a Stepford Wife with no mind of her own. If she has been able to stay in line for her throne, while simultaneously being in a Dom/Sub relationship...well, that would have made it more tolerable. As it is, she is going to a Saudi-like kingdom where she will be an object.
