Complete and Fascinating
This thorough textbook is designed to teach principles of human development from birth to death. With an extensive and up-to-date research base, the book effectively provides an array of information from which anyone can learn. I find myself quoting information from the book on a regular basis because the content is so interesting and useful. There is solid online support to help students learn the information. The book's emphasis on professionals in psychology could be better adapted to profesisonals working in special education as one of the helping professions. And whle the authors have a fluent writing style, the print is too small to read easily. The publisher used small print with wide text lines (instead of consistent columns), color behind print for poor contrast, and little white space between lines, which means that the professor who wants to adapt to learners with visual challenges will need to find another book.Excellent information, which is downright fascinating.

Comprehensive textbook
This textbook was required for a graduate-level Developmental Psychology course I took online. While reading was assigned, it was not truly required to be successful in the course. The text is decently readable, but not particularly exciting. The biggest disappointment is that although advertised as a softcover, it is a hardback book.

Chock full
The content of this book is top notch. However, it is super dense. I would have liked for the entire book to have been written with multiple columns rather than having the text run across the very wide pages. The Applications and Summary at the end of each chapter is how I would like the entire book to be printed.I do have a gripe about the publishers constantly advertising its on-line resources, but you have to pay extra for those! The publisher should have on-line examples and/or a free chapter to help the customer to decide to purchase the extra materials.

Change The Font and Paper!
This was bought for one of my Masters Degree Classes. I LOVED the contents of this book! It is easy to understand with plenty of visuals! I did however HATE the fine grey font and the shiney paper which made it very uncomfortable to read. My first book arrived completely separated away from the hard back cover. I received a replacement within 4 days (from Amazon) and returned the original book. However 4 weeks into my 12 week class the second book started to separate away too. This book is very poorly made. Such a pity because the content is fabulous!!

Inaccurate Description
The description about this book has some variations. The binding does have some damage, even know the item description said that it is fine and as for the topic of "SOME" highlighting. There is so much highlighting in this book that it effects the legibility at times and mainly because of the color of the highlighter and the abundance of markings on each page. Although these discrepancies exist in the description I would purchase from this seller again. However, I would highly question the description and would have to be assured by the seller that there are no discrepancies in the item description.

comprehensive book, but not the easiest read
i had to read this book for a developmental class i took in grad school. it is very comprehensive and covers all the aspects of development from birth to death and several attachment theories. it takes a bio psycho social approach to normal development and to the development of psychopathology. Every topic is backed up by research. informative book, but extremely dry and not very easy to read, especially the first few chapters.
