Enjoying it

I have always loved this movie. We lived near the base where this was happening. It just hurts me to see how our government uses animals to do experiments on. Trying to find out how pilots react to a nuclear attack is so wrong. Animals don’t know they are going to die, people do. I understand experiments but come on, this was wrong. I still cry every time I watch it. It is a great movie with important learning information.

This one will always have a special place in my heart. I always loved Virgil.

If you have not seen this movie, WATCH IT!A warning that the topics involved can be emotional however.Since the reviews are again combined for multiple editions and products... I am reviewing what I received as being the North America (USA) DVD release from Nov 22 2011 - 13132 42759, and the later Aus/NZ release from Jun 23 2015 - 332412 010799.Decent transfer of video, it is a 29.97 FPS Interlaced video NTSC transfer instead of a 24 FPS Film transfer as I expected it to be. This can cause some problems with various combinations of DVD players and TVs, or yield amazing results...The only extras are trailers and TV promos for the movie. All on the disc in INCORRECT aspect ratio.Also if you wish to copy these to your computer to place on a media server for example, both have mastering inconsistencies that will cause many issues... This combination often, but not always, indicates a non-orignal disc that has been placed on the market, often because it is difficult to find a real disc that is no longer being produced.The US disc is NOT protected, but is set to region 1 and other than the incorrect aspect ratios on the extras, would not have raised any red flags immediately. The packaging looks legitimate with the proper and expected studio and copyright messages.The Aus/NZ disc looks more suspicious. It looks like a cheap direct copy of the other disc, with the region coding stripped making it region free. Same menus, and content, NTSC 29.97 interlaced which is NOT usual for Aus/NZ discs. The packaging has all studio references and copyrights removed also making it very generic and not normal. Other than that the DVD outer package sleeve insert is a reworked copy of the US disc, but lower quality printing.I have hunted and sadly these seem to be the best available discs for this great movie.

I love to watch movies. If I like a movie I'll watch it over and over. This movie just happened to be on cable TV but I only saw the last 45 minutes of it. I had forgotten what a good movie it was so I began my search to find it I'm also a great lover of animals.

Calidad e imagen como esperado! Solo que no tiene opción de subtítulos ni otro idioma que. O sea inglés! Posiblemente por la antigüedad de la pelicula, pero estaría bien lo especificaran!

Ni langage français ni sous-titres en français.

Je me joins aux autres commentateurs sur le manque d'une version française! Pour un film assez sympa et attachant que j'ai vu à plusieurs reprises fin des années 80 début des années 90...des acteurs en pleine forme et tout jeune.... Matthew Broderick et Hélène Hunt sans oublier le très attachant Virgil . Je cherchais le DVD depuis longtemps et c'est finalement avec une version espagnole (ouf !je maîtrise la langue espagnole) que j'ai fini par le trouver en attendant de tomber dessus un jour avec une version française en DVD ou peut-être mieux Blu-ray ,4K...en attendant 3 étoiles pas plus.

Great movie. Got in a timely manner and it was in great condition. Had no issues with it, and would recommend.
