Does the job easy reading

This is, as far as I know, the first full biography of Tom of Finland, covering his personal, as well as his private life. The quality of the production is high with excellent reproductions of Tom's art, some of it familiar, some of it not previously published. By today's norms Tom was politically incorrect, just as he was considered morally outrageous at the time. But what was outrage to some was, to a young gay man such as myself, a clarion call not to be ashamed of one's sexuality; that it was something to be celebrated.The discreet sticker on the front cover goes against everything Tom was trying to say. But hey, it's fun to unpick it even if it takes longer to unglue than any of Tom's characters took to get into a guy's pants.

Het boek is een van de weinige die een uitgebreide beschrijving van Tom's levensloop geeft. Helaas lijken alle boeken over Tom of Finland vooral te excelleren in het herhalen van dezelfde gemaakte illustraties. Deze vormt daarop geen uitzondering - zeker als je de XXL pil ernaast legt
