desertcart.com: Eyes of Prey (The Prey Series Book 3) eBook : Sandford, John: Books Review: More reading pleasure - This, the third book in the Davenport series, i.e. the “Prey series,” and as with the first two novels the personality of the primary characters as was well as the tone of future books are being established. In this one we find a much younger Lucas which is one of the things I like about the Prey series...the author allows his characters grow and age as each books is released. Here we find a Lucas who is establishing himself as a pretty violent no nonsense character who is not beyond bending the rules just a bit. We also find a Lucas who is a bit of a womanizer. We have two very, very evil villains in this one – both serial killers, who have teamed up and gone into business together. This creates many twists and turns and surprises in the story and at times you never really know who the bad guy(s) are and who the good ones are. As you read the book you soon realize that not all is as it seems. Action is good here and almost non stop. Pay attention to the end because this particular story has not been finished. It is good if you can read these novels in order of publication (something I did not do) but on the other hand each is most certainly a stand-alone novel as the author gives you plenty of back ground as each book is finished. This is a very good series and has given me much reading enjoyment over the years. Review: Good read - A Davenport book that has some good twists. Fun read.

Suspense???
Yes…right down to the very last sentence… Sanford’s the MASTER… There is no other quite like him. He never disappoints.

a re read for me
I read this book when it first came out, just re read it and it’s still just as good as the first time I read it. Great talent! Wish Sanford still had it, last 4 books were bad. Nothing like this!

Psychiatrist's wet dream
Enough characters with mental issues to keep several psych doctors in business. Interesting plot and lots of action. It was a little wordy with details and unnecessarily complicated in my opinion. Still a good read though.

Good read
I am an ardent John Sandford fan. I recently purchased and read the complete Prey series and then the complete Flowers series in order, and I'm only sorry I'll have to wait for the next book in both series. Sandford is a novelist with the rare ability to carry over characters and plot elements with complete believabiity while allowing both to develop in interesting, unexpected but natural ways - the only other "serial" novelist who does this nearly as well is Anthony Trollope, and he avoids murders. I re-read these books with pleasure as great or greater than the first reading because the fast-paced narrative and unexpected plot developments pulls you to read fast the first time; the second or third you can pay attention to atmosphere (he's great on significant landscape detail), character growth, and situation development. Sandford writes like a real novelist, not like someone trying to impress academia with his literary exclusivity.

Not >>AS<< great
First: Sandford's novels are always very good. I have re-read them all at least 3 times. This one ,while good, was just not my favorite

Eyes of Prey (Book 3)
I have just now begun John Sanford's books and read book 1 and skipped book 2 (which I think was a mistake, because I feel I missed some important information that was in book 2.) So I'm going back to read book 2 after I write this review on EYES OF PREY. First of all I just want to say "WOW!" I can't believe the imagination this guy has, and his main character Lucas Davenport is such an interesting piece of work. There are so many facets to this man. What I really liked about this book was Bekker and his idiosyncrasies (which I won't get into-plot-spoiler") He almost made me feel like I was reading something out of "Silence of the Lambs! But the best part was the last, I think I went back and read those last two pages 3 times because I couldn't believe it! WANNA READ A GOOD BOOK? ***EYES OF PREY!***

Good story! Loved it!

A typical Davenport story - fun to listen to if you like the genre - not a complex story, but compelling and good to follow (which for me is important in an audio book).

I lik going back and reading early Davenport novels as he was much harder then and a bit more out of control, always gets his killer...

Book good read to. Story interesting has. Story has start middle and end. And cover, back and front. Two more words required
