Ellison the Elephant (with Audio CD)

Love it.

We bought 3 of Drachman's books with CD for our 4 1/2 year old daughter who is crazy about audio books in the car. The story is simple but endearing and the art is very lovely. I like how the readers on the CD sound like real people and the sound effects are fun too. My daughter enjoys reading it without the CD as well. My only concern is that she is now mimicking the way the child/Ellison speaks. Either the reader naturally has a speech impediment or it was put on for the story. While I can see value in having this in books so kids with similar problems can realize others are like them too, it's not so good for kids who love to mimic. Now, my daughter mispronounces all the L words. So I will have to put away the books until she gets over this phase. Edna and Leo is not as pronounced so we still enjoy those. If your kid does not mimic, then you will probably love this book.

My oldest grandchild is 15 and youngest 4!!!! They have all loved this book and some have memorized parts of it!!! Has a wonderful meaning as well as a sweet story! I keep them in my back seat all the time!!

My grandson is 4yrs old and loves to sing, hum and listen to music. I wanted him to know others do the same. He also wanted to do some reading by himself. I got him the book and CD (he has headphones and CD player) so when his older brother has read time he could read a book by himself too. He loves the story. He now tells the story and hums the tunes to anyone that will listen to him.

I am a grandma who loves elephants and also loves children's books, and I was delighted with this one! I enjoyed the CD too, and plan on getting a second copy of this book for my grandkids. The story was wonderful, teaching children it's OK to be different and to appreciate what makes you special. I LOVED the illustrations! The book was not too short or too long - just right, in every way. Two trunks up!

This is one of my favorite books. The voices on the CD are precious. The morale of the story is so important for children to know. You don't have to be like everyone else. You are special just the way you are.

My kids love this book and want the cd to read it to them over and over again. Very cute story

Hands down the best children's book I've ever purchased. Teachers, parents- PLEASE buy this book and read it to your students/children!! Such a beautiful message about empowerment and positive self-talk.
