4 years in!
A Review After Four YearsI bought this little device in December 2021, and now, in June 2025, it still works perfectly. I’ve never been a morning person. Even when I manage to wake up early, I often struggle with persistent brain fog that can last for several hours—sometimes the entire morning if I get up too early.I decided to give this small blue light a try, thinking it couldn’t hurt. To my surprise, it worked remarkably well. I usually use it either right after getting out of bed or while I’m still lying down. After just about 10 minutes, the brain fog begins to lift, and my energy noticeably improves. It has truly made a difference in my mornings—I now enjoy studying early in the day without feeling mentally sluggish.I also turn to it whenever I feel like I need a cup of coffee. I’ve recently quit coffee because it started giving me anxiety and nausea when I drank too much. The withdrawal headaches were also quite intense. Instead, I brew a strong cup of green tea with some added lavender, which helps me maintain energy while staying calm and anxiety-free.I’m not exactly sure how long each session with this device lasts, but it shuts off automatically, so I never have to worry about overexposure. On particularly gloomy or cloudy days, when my brain fog feels especially heavy, I sometimes go for a second round.

Blue light
This did not help me at all. I bought one for a friend and she stated it helps her some. So I guess all not lost

Very compact, portable blue light solution
Very high quality bright blue light. I believe this matches the 200 Blue light lux output seen in many experiments.Things that weren't immediately obvious to me:1. It has an extremely small form factor. The kickstand collapses conveniently into the back, giving this a shape that's basically like a thick tablet. This makes it very easy to pack in, say, a laptop bag or similar. Some light therapy devices are bulky and awkardly shaped, not this one.2. The USB power port make it very easy to use on the go. You can just connect it to your laptop or a portable battery and power it, no need for some hulking power cord and outlet. The device says it's rated for 1 amp, which basically all modern chargers and ports can accommodate.3. The timer setting is optional. If you want the light to stay on as long as you want, you can. I like to use mine for several hours in the morning, so it's good that you don't have to cycle it.Not so good:4. The "low-light" setting feels like it's about 80% the standard level. So you've got "super-bright, pretty-darn bright, and off" as your options. Doesn't bother me as I like the standard, super-bright setting, but if you want lower intensities go elsewhere.5. As this has no mechanical switches, you aren't going to be able to set this to "on", connect this to an outlet timer and use it to turn on automatically at a specific time as part of a wake-up alarm. Which is a real disappointment.UPDATE: I purchased a second unit January 2021. The model has been updated slightly. It now uses a USB-C type connector in the back instead of a USB micro and features a small SMY logo on the top despite the same model number on the back label. Personally I don't like the SMY logo, but it's small enough in a light font that it's not too bothersome. The light intensity and other elements appear unchanged.UPDATE: July 2022- I continue to use both units with my laptop for around 6 hours a day in the early morning. They can be powered over an unpowered USB hub connected to a laptop, and even run off of a mobile power bank. The older one is slightly more dim than the newer one, but it's really only noticeable compared side to side. These do not have limitless lifespan and after several thousand hours of use would be expected to dim a bit. I don't see this impacting their usefulness for at least a few years.UPDATE: November 2022- Lights continue working well.ISSUE- The USB-C lamp appears to not be able to power off of all kinds of ports. A USB laptop charger (USB-PD) with a type C plug appears not to be able to power this. Also connecting this to a type C port on a Microsoft Edge 2 with a USB C port, either directly, through an unpowered hub or through a usb C to type A dongle does not work, but the USB microlamp can be powered with an adapter USB C to USB micro. I think the USB-C lamp then needs whatever power typically comes out of the type A ports (the fatter wider plugs). This is notable because it makes powering the USB-C lamp on the go slightly more challenging if you are not also using a device like a laptop that has a USB-A plug.Your options to power the USB-C lamp then are:>Have a laptop with a type A port and plug in the lamp directly or through a hub>Carry an ordinary USB A power adapter and plug that in where you have an outlet (easy but you may be in a spot without an outlet or limited outlets)>Hope you're in a place with powered USB-A ports (not uncommon on planes, airports and hotels)>Carry around an external USB battery pack and power the lights off of that (works, but your battery may need to be relatively large to power two of these for a long morning. I believe the devices consume substantially less than the 1A they are rated for, don't recall what it is)

kinda works but...
if you get migraines seizures or are easily irritated by bright lights avoid this product. The product works to wake you up but it gets irritating after a while to the point that any and all lights will begin to bother you.caveat emptor

Helps with My Sleepiness
I have three of these now. I try to use them in the morning when I first wake up. They seem to help greatly reduce my daytime sleepiness. I love that they are USB powered. (USB-A 1amp but 500 milliamps works well, too. It comes with a cable and US ac 5volt USB power supply.)I love the blue light and the fact that it blocks the UV-B, which is said to be harmful. Using this help to reset my body clock so my brain knows when it is day or night. I seldom get outside to get natural sunlight and I have no windows in my office, so this helps me a lot. Got SAD? Try this!

Nice light
I got this after seeing a coworker with an old school light box on their desk. She said it helped with her S.A.D., something we get a lot of here in Seattle. I went online and read up on it and decided to try the blue one, since that also happens to be my favorite color. The device is super portable, about the size of a Kindle reader. Love that it is powered by a USB plug. This allows me to use it with a simple battery pack most everyone has now for cell phones.I tend to be a night owl and hate hearing those early morning alarms for work. Decided to see if this could help be adjust my sleep cycle, too. Been using it daily and saw results in the first two days for this. I actually get tired earlier at night and wake up feeling more alert. I use it 30 minutes every morning within an hour of waking up.Will see how it does on S.A.D. now that the days are getting shorter. It seems like a well made product. Nothing about it makes it feel lux or worth the price it is. But as long as it keeps lighting up my day I am happy!
