Works great
I like these battery disconnect switches and they work great and easily. The only drawback is the need to drill a hole to mount the main shaft through, which is just over a 1/2" in diameter. When drilling through the steel panels of construction equipment, this can be a real chore. Assembly and wiring is straight forward. There is a definite 'positive' click when you flip the switch, giving a solid confidence the switch is where you want it, either in the 'On' or 'OFF' position.

Go with this one
If your switch is only used a few times a year you can get away with some cheap switch, but if it is for a critical use, such as starting a vehicle, or a switch that is used often, do yourself a favor and get this one. They last. My last one was used several times a day and it was still working fine when taken out of service after 28 years. Only replaced it as a preventative measure.

perfect replacement
Interesting problem - old switch prodiced slightly high resistance under load - resulting in loss of charge to coach house batteries. Charge voltage at batteries would never be high enough due to 1 volt voltage drop across old switch ! This replacement shows essentially zero voltage drop under high current load. Problem solved - now house batteries are fully charged from alternator.

Be prepared to purchase lugs having 1/2" I.D.
The Fastronix cutoff switch is a sturdy unit and is designed to support 300 amps, (likely the reason for the large 1/2" studs). In the application, two 12V lead acid batteries connected in parallel and support the electrical system on an MGB GT automobile. Since the switch is located in a hidden / remote area, the provided knob was not usable for operation. I removed the knob and replaced it with a steel spacer that I modified to function with a specialty-built polycarbonate knob. The switch operates with a solid mechanical click and will hopefully last for many years.
