Amazing History!
This book is very personal to me. It confirmed the oral history I already heard from my mother about my great-great grandfather, Alaafin Atiba.

The most important things I liked about this book was the accurate dates
The most important things I liked about this book were the accurate dates, presentation of the mindset of the people (including the leaders of different factions), and the political highs as well as the lows of the Yoruba people from 1800 AD to 1900 AD.

Good for Yoruba history... how ever when it comes to the Yoruba spirituality the writer is misinformed.... maybe because he was a an Anglican priest

Most Amazing Book On Yoruba History
You cannot put this book down! It's an amazing history book that provides insight applicable even in modern living for the Yoruba people.I read this book when I was in my teens as my dad was a history teacher at the time. Now that I am working on producing my own material, found this book indispensable to my research work.Rev. Dr Samuel Johnson definitely knocked it out of the park a century ago in 1921

Understanding the journey of a unique race
A nice piece of work that ought to have been taught in African educational system, and particularly in Europe. Without Yoruba descent understanding where they have come from, will ultimately make it difficult to understand their in modern geo-political conflict. Perhaps this work can help understand how to resolve ethnic conflic in wider West Africa sub-region.

An excellent read
This was a thick tome but very informative and I persevered right to the end. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the Yorubas as an ethnic group. It certainly puts some of the current issues in the group in perspective.
