Magicka Plus (PC DVD)

This game is undoubtedly the best PC game I have ever played, and I will defend that decision to the death. Every second of this game was an absolute joy to play, and always will be. The graphics are rich, stylised, and fresh. From the spell-effects to the scenery, I was blown away by the sheer amount of effort that has been put into every minor detail. The characters are funny, interesting, and well-developed. The monsters are varied, thoroughly-planned and very satisfying when your 'Arcane beam and Lightning spell' causes trolls, goblins, and evil warlocks to explode in a shower of entrails and offal. You come across all sorts of fantasy antagonists such as forest trolls, warlocks, necromancers, druids, and yes, of course, Goblins! Don't worry though - a concentrated fire spell will send them packing. Speaking of spells, the magic system is one of the most INGENIOUS things I have come across in a game. Using a combination of the alphabet letters, you can combine the 8 elements into various spells, from lightning beams to summoning Death himself; there's nothing more satisfying than finding the spell that kills Trolls the fastest, or effectively combining Ice and Arcane beams to freeze Salamanders in their tracks. I have spent numerous hours playing the main storyline, but what else is there? There's challenges to play, where you face waves of increasingly tough monsters, and even 'Online Mode' where you can play with other wizards from across the globe. With hours of game play, and ingenious spell-combinations this game is never a chore. This game is seriously underrated, and I think you're seriously worse-off without a copy on your shelf.
