Meh
I bought this watch last year, and I have not been impressed with it. I thought the band and case were made of platinum gold, but instead they are just made of stainless steel. I am extremely disappointed and now I'm embarrassed to wear it out in public, because stainless steel just looks cheap and tacky. Make sure to read the detailed specs on this watch, it looks like platinum but instead it's just stainless steel. If you want platinum, go elsewhere!!

Over priced
A great watch from a great manufacturer, at least now that they manufacture their own movements. But why would you pay substantially over retail for ANY watch? Just for cache? You can have the stainless AND gold Daytona for less money, same movement and a lot of gold in the watch. Having said that, this is a very large and impressive if not somewhat clunky watch with a busy dial and the subdials can be a bit tough to read with us older people. So be sure it looks good on your wrist and you are happy with the legibility before purchasing. I also own the new Explorer II release with the new calibre movement and it's almost too big for me. Decide why you need the chronograph complication. It will not be cheap to maintain and adds initial cost. There are better movements (and value) out there but there is no substitute for the Rolex name. It's iconic, affordable and holds value really well. Lastly, make sure you know the date of manufacture. Rolex has issued new movements over time with improved performance, so do your homework, ask questions about (and understand) the calibre number and expect value adjustments accordingly. With the SS you may not get them but at least you know if you have a newer or older version. Best of luck and may this be only one of many great watches in your collection!

Classic but not trendy today.
I bought this watch back in 2003 and I was very happy with it. Now a couple of years later I use it every now and then but it doesn't trill me as it did time ago. The reason is because watches now are different, they are more fashionable. Well talking about watches may be complicated because in the past you were completed with just one watch but not any more. There are watches for suits, for casual clothes, steel, yellow or white gold, strap, no strap diamonds, no diamonds (even on men). So going back to what I was saying before, today rubber is hot in watches as several materials (ceremic, titannium) and something very important today. Watches are big now. The Rolex Daytona is 40mm and now the minimum suggested size is 44mm (I can't understand why Rolex doesn't refreshes its collection). Any typical male watch from the past looks for women's now. Another negative thing about this model is that it doesn't have date (big mistake). Well anyway, this watch is also a classic, is pretty and basiclly looks good with everything and the price is not very high (I know that's not a small amount but prices nowadays are really high). My advice is to look for several options and never by a watch by photo, go to a jewerly store, see it and try it on, and is also nice when you have a watch that not necessarily everybody has. Rolex and Rolex Daytona is a watch that lots and lots and lots and lots of people own, try something different it's also a another advice that I can give.

I Don't Like The Color.
The color was boring to me when the watch arrived. I didn't even wear it or take it out of it's case at all. That's how disgusted I was with the color.I decided to just garbage it in the trash can. I have better things to do with my time than to send it back for a refund. This thing has made me so upset with the color; that I was put through more suffering than starving degenerate african peasants and serfs.

Chronograph function is essential when timing your fast-food order
The Rolex Daytona is essential if you are into fast food. The Chronograph feature is perfectly made to time how fast the drive-thru order is fulfilled at Taco Bell and McDonald's. If it weren't for this Rolex, I don't think you'd have anything available on the market that could properly measure the time it takes to get a chalupa at the drive-thru window.

Classic iconic watch
I have had my Daytona for over a year now. This is one of the most recognizable watch on the market today. Also one of the most prestigious. From its connection with Paul Newan to the racing histories, this is a must have for any collectors. This is the only chronograph that Rolex makes, also one of the most rare. Personally, I feel this is one of the most balanced watch that Rolex makes. It is comfortable and has understated elegance. You will see Datejust and Submariner on just about every other corner. This watch will make you stand apart from the crowd.

The treasured daytona
If you own a Daytona, as I do, that is all you have to say.People who know them, pick up on them right away. They are scarce, and hard to get. That is why if you can get one at jeweler retail $7500, you are lucky. You can be around people who wear Rolexes, and the sophisticated ones notice it right off the get go. Walk into any jewelry store, and the counter people notice it as you walk in. Its a rush.Did you know that Rolex prohibits sales people from wearing a Daytona in their stores because customers become angry when they notice them, and find out how few of them are allocated to a store. The waiting list goes to their better customers, and can take years to move up.If you like the watch, bite the bullet, and buy it. Otherwise you will waste time, and money waiting to find one.Ed in Naples

Graduation Gift
My Father bought me this watch for my HS Graduation and I am in love! I don't have this exact one, we purchased one with a black face. If it a financially viable option, I definitely recommend this timepiece! Nothing more classic than a Rolex.***Yes I know I am young, but I am doing my Pre-Med and then going to Medical school, and I was just blessed with really generous parents!***
