Christmas Eve on Sesame Street VHS

I loved viewing and watching this film and the show for when I was a kid growing up in the late 1980s and the early 1990s, and I am glad that I am able to find this film on DVD and on Amazon so I can be able to introduce this film and show to a whole new different generation, as well.

We watch this every year. When I grew up, i had the record. It brings back such happy memories of a good childhood when we sit down and watch this sweet movie for Christmas.

I have been wanting to see this favorite of mine for years and years now. As a matter of fact I would think about this movie every Christmas since I was a young kid and wished it would air as Rudolph and Frosty still do, although I know there are new cast members and characters added over all these years. I remember every year as a young child anxiously waiting for this to air come Christmas Eve. We would make popcorn and make it a wonderful family night together. The parts that have stuck with me all these years (I'm 40 now) is Oscar at the ice rink in the beginning when he goes flying off the ice LOL!!, Big Bird with icicles on his beak when he falls asleep outside on top of the roof in the snow, and cookie monster eating Gordon's Christmas tree and letting out a huge burp LOL!! Reading the reviews on here tonight other people have mentioned other great parts of the movie I forgot about and can't wait to see again! It's a heart warming beautiful Christmas story with lots of laughs too! Parents who haven't seen it are sure to love it and it will bring you right back to Sesame Street when it was at it's best! Can't wait for it to arrive and share these wonderful memories with my 3 young children and make it a tradition for many many years to come!

This DVD arrived and plays in my Blu Ray as expected. The video and audio is as expected from a "70's" show. It hasn't been remastered but is clear. I've watched this since I was a kid and watched on online for years before I purchased it. I highly recommend this! I don't have children ( yet ) but will watch it every year with them when the time comes. It can be "dramatic" at times but I think it was designed for kids and adults a like. I was saddened to read the negative reviews about this. You where kids once and probably loved it and turned out a fine upstanding member of society watching Sesame Street. I love it and will strongly recommend this to kids and adults!!! Disney movies and cartoons are "dramatic at times and sometimes show kids life isn't always perfect and I believe this show was doing the same thing with " Santa Clause and the Magic that comes with Christmas".

Yes, I said it. ELMOLESS! And that's how I like my Sesame Street!Even though I'm pushing 30 now, Christmas Eve on Sesame Street is still a favorite of mine and there has not been ONE Christmas Eve or Christmas day where I did NOT watch this. Christmas Eve on Sesame Street is a classic all on its own, not just because it's dated back to the late 70's but because it contains such memorable scenes that help you understand the true meaning of Christmas. I'm not going to write a "BOOK review" (lol) and spoil it completely for those who haven't seen it, but basically, Christmas Eve on Sesame Street is about Big Bird getting all anxious trying to figure out how Santa Claus gets through the chimney because Oscar told him it wasn't possible and that if he doesn't find out then no one would get any presents. Long story short, Big Bird finally learns that the true meaning of Christmas isn't about the presents, it's the spirit of GIVING love, joy, and peace to others from your heart. Now THAT is classic! If you're an "old school" Sesame Street fan like me, then this is a MUST HAVE for your collection. It will surely make your Christmas holiday worth while like it has for me and my family. :)

Wish it had said that it wasn’t going to play in my region and I wouldn’t of brought it. Disappointed

７０年代にテレビでセサミを見ていた人なら、本当に懐かしく思うのでは？皆で手話を交えて歌うKeep Christmas With You の歌を聞くと、思わず暖かい気持ちになります。時代を経ても、いいものはいいですね。クリスマスの度に子供と一緒に見たいビデオです。

エミー賞を受賞した、素晴らしい作品。普段から、いじ悪なことを言って困らせるのが大好きなオスカーは、クリスマスだからと皆が幸せにそうにしているのが気に入らない。そしてビッグバード（でかいけど、まだ４〜５歳なのだ）と可愛い女の子パティーに「あんなデブっちょのサンタが、細い煙突をどうやって下りてくるのさ？それがわからない限りプレゼントはもらえないんだよ」と言って、不安がらせるというのがメインのお話し。それ以外にもアーニーとバードの友情のお話しや、リンダが子供たちに手話を教えて、ボブを驚かすお話しなどがあり、心温まるビデオです。実際。子供達に「どうしてサンタが下りてこられるんだと思う？」と質問し、本当にみな自由な発想で答える。音楽も素晴らしい、子供達の想像力を育むという意味でも素晴らしい造りになっているし、いまでは故人のフーパーさん、デヴィッド、など懐かしい顔も見られるし、これぞセサミストリートの原点！って感じですね。お薦めします。日本ではどうしてもう手に入らないのでしょうか？

とにかく古い。今のセサミを見ている人にとっては、ゴードンやスーザンが「歌のおにいさん、おねえさん」みたいに若かったことが、信じられないかも。ボブやリンダもしかり。元祖、フーパーズストアの主人も登場する。エルモやゾーイはもちろん登場しない。オスカーは今より、存在感がある。ビッグバードは、ちゃきちゃきしている。そんな時代の変化を感銘深く見るファンにとっては、必携の作品だろう。それに、このビデオは、アメリカのどこにでもありそうな（理想？）風景を描いていて、どこまでも優しい。音楽もしかり。最近の騒がしいセサミより、私は好きだ。
