Delicious!
Was absolutely delicious! We couldn’t find the dobosh cakes anywhere and loved that we found them here! The cake was delivered on time and it was fresh! Yummy!

Like a jumbo petit four
My parents used to have this cake at Christmas in the 1960s, and these are identical in taste, texture and size. These aren't a soft, fresh baked cake; they have multiple thin layers of yellow cake between layers of a sweet, rather dry Cocoa icing. The entire cake is then coated in a chocolate shell. It's too bad they've gotten so expensive; this is a rather small, mass produced cake, after all.

Costs too much this year
I've eaten this for about 50 years. Wonderful cake. Last 4 years, bought it on Amazon because of free shipping. Now the Amazon price is closer to 30 than 20 dollars, guess Swiss colony decided to raise it to pay for the 'free shipping' , too expensive for my taste. I'd go for a small box of petit fours in this flavor, but the boxes are mixed flavors, and I'm a chocolate and vanilla fan. Don't care for gift boxes with lots of mixed flavors of cakes, meats, and cheeses, either . As a kid, receiving those for the family, we always had too many items left over from gift boxes, because the flavors didn't appeal to anyone.Suggestion to Swiss colony: maybe in the 70s or 80s, I used to shop a Swiss colony shop in New Jersey at a mall- Woodbridge or Menlo Park. The food cases in the store were full of individual cakes and wrapped meats and cheeses, so you could buy individual ones to meet the tastes of yourgift recipients. I would buy a bunch of wrapped squares of dobosh. Maybe 3 or 4 inch square. They made great gifts for every casual friend, coworker, and the paperboy. I'd take a triangle of dobosh in my lunch for work.I'd love to see Swiss colony offer items like that in their catalogue. Maybe with 3,5, or 10 for pricing. I'd buy a lot of small dobosh, as I used to at the old mall store. It also offers a tasting opportunity. Few people are going to spend $29 to find out if they like dobosh, but , with many people receiving gifts of small ones to sample, you might get more customers for the bigger cakes. And small, individually wrapped cakes would get more everyday use by fans .

Stale -
Very disappointed - torte was stale and not much flavor. Grew up near Swiss Colony and worked in the restaurant was well as the shipping department summers and Christmas break. Haven't had one of these in many years. Totally fell apart when cutting. Had ordered for a party dessert with some petits fours which were wonderful.

Excellent Dessert
I very much love this Swiss Colony Dobosh Torte, but it's very expensive ordering from Swiss Colony. Amazon's price is lower, and it's actually shipped from Swiss Colony so it's the real thing.

Disappointed
My mother always ordered this torte at Christmas and it was moist and delicious. I was disappointed as this torte was really dry. The cake was pleasant but not at all what we used to get.

No flavor
I remember Swiss Colony cakes and such being good and having a nice flavor - they are not like they used to be. Didn’t like this much at all. Was dry and tasteless - it used to be good. Recipe change or old stock - I won’t waste my money on this again

Delicious
This is such a great treat! My grandparents used to send one to us at every Christmas from the 1960’s! They are every bit as good now as when I was a child! Love Swiss Colony!
