Good info on mechanics of weight loss.
This book is for the people who have tried many diets to no avail and are still very serious about lossing weight to improve their health. The book is not for the person who wants to loss 15 pounds is 15 days (no diet no recieps). For the people (like myself) who have tried many diets and still have not lost weight this book is very helpful. It identifies various health problems and biochemical factors that can hender your weight loss and informs you about what questions to ask your doctor and what lab work would be helpful in identifing and correcting these problems. If you are willing to work on your life style and other health problems that you need to address before you focus on weight loss, then this is the book for you.

OK
When I recieved the book it was in great shape. But according to the author you had to visit your doctor to take several blood test. I was hoping I could lose weight without visiting my doctor.

Nothing really new here
Decent book if it is your first looking into health and nutrition, nothing new if you have been researching for a long time.

Helpful info to overcome the problems, not just medicate it.
To the other reviewer- Of course you can lose weight without visiting your doctor for a bunch of tests. The author does suggest that you could go get some tests done [and she let's you know which ones would be most beneficial and why] but I did not read that she urges one to do so.I have done a lot of research but still felt this book was helpful in that it does list many troublesome "disorders" of the body that can lead to weight gain and difficulty losing it. What I especially like is that for every problem, such as Insulin Resistance or Thyroid Dysfunction, there is a chart with supplements and herbs that are helpful for correcting each situation. She also shares how many of the disorders work together to cause gain and how to overcome the problem (s). This is not a quick-fix diet book, but more of a a guide to rebuild health so your body can get to a healthy weight. I would recommend this book.
