Great book, great condition, great price, fast delivery. This is a great reference book for anyone trying to figure out what dog breed would be best for them. It packs a lot of information into small spaces, so be sure to check the first pages to explain things like how many hairbrushes mean "this dog requires lots of grooming." It's a real reference book with lots of interesting information in the first section. Then a section with most essential information about various dog breeds and be sure to check the third section for even more information about any breed you might be interested in. It's a great book for a first time dog owner and anyone who needs basic information so they can make an informed choice and pick a dog they will love forever. I love this book. It's pretty comprehensive. It's not absolutely comprehensive but it's a great source of a lot of good information. You'll be surprised how often you pull this book off the shelf even after you have chosen and adopted a dog or dogs. Great book. Thank you!

Great reference book to start off for those interested in learning more about their favorite breeds. No every breed is created equal or is for everyone. As a veterinarian I always advice clients to thoroughly research a breed BEFORE adopting (preferably) or purchasing. If not the first question I ask is if they’re familiar with the breed that was just brought in for its first visit. Understanding the breed and its little nuances is key for a long and happy pet life and books like these can give people a general idea of what to expect. This being the main reason why I purchased this (and the cat version) of the book.Easy to understand info and rather precise. I also liked the chapters included on proper care, training and other basics of pet care. It’s a great starting point to learn more about one of our favorite pets.

I got this for my 2 year old who loves cats. He carries it all over the place opening it up to look at all the pictures. It has a picture of each breed in the book along with lots of good info about them. It even has a section for general care. This was a great purchase that I'm sure he will treasure for years to come.

This is a great book if you're looking for an overview of most breeds. I love the way this book is organized with it divided into types of dogs. The introduction is also great with a bunch of general knowledge about dogs as well as the end of the book where it has information about behavior, training, and introducing a new dog into the household. This book doesn't have all known breeds of dog, but it has most of them, and it does the job. I got this book after starting work in a vet's office just to help me with recognizing breeds and behaviors. It has been an excellent resource and many of my coworkers have asked to borrow this! And it, of course, is a good book for figuring out what kind of dog you want. So a great multipurpose book!

This is a lovely, detailed book full of pictures and interesting info. I'm not sure if it has the level of detail that a more advanced cat owner would want; but my daughter absolutely loves it. She's been flipping through it for hours and admiring all the pictures, as well as learning lots from all the advice.

This is a wonderful book, and I'm glad I purchased it, but it really isn't what I was looking for. It is a great reference for studying profiles and photographs of 420 dog breeds of the world. However, I find the breed groupings a little awkward, and I wasn't interested in many of the lesser known breeds. I then purchased Encyclopedia of Dog Breeds Third Edition and adore it! It has profiles and beautiful photographs of the 175 breeds I'm most interested in, and the groups are the same as the American Kennel Club.

Loving the book as so much more detail than I had purchased it for jnc many rarer breeds and colours than I knew existed- very helpful in detail about nature of a cat and whether they are better in a pair or as a single eyc- good level of advanced information .
