Goethe's Theory Of Colours: Translated From The German With Notes By Charles Lock Eastlake

Seeing through the eyes of Goethe
This is a fascinating book by one of the most intelligent people that has ever lived. If you read this you will learn about bizarre visual phenomenon such as colored shadows and a theory as to why snow looks yellow from miles away. The thing I love most about this book is how it reveals things to you that you've never realized you already knew. It's not quite like a novel in the way you empathize with the main character. You literally feel at times like you are Goethe looking at various subjects. It's like no other nonfiction book I've read.

Great edition, but has some weird flaws
Good translation by Eastlake. Being a painter himself, he had the perception to properly translate this work that deals with aesthetics and colors. The only thing that bugged me is the incorrect spelling of the author's name in the FRONT COVER! Wolfgang became Olfgang... weird mistake.
