On the Passion of Christ According to the Four Evangelists: Prayers and Meditations

Very excellent book
I have The Imitation of Christ the version with Tylenda as the translator. It is the best version of that book. I then came across this looking for something more focused on the Crucifixion. It is by Kempis also with Tylenda once again doing the translation. I have just started on it. As has been said this is not a book to just read. Rather a book to reflect on the particular moments of Christ’s passion and then it has a reflection and a prayer in each chapter. So I’m taking it quite slow to get the full spiritual effect. I’m finding it very enjoyable and helpful in my connection to Jesus Christ.

Less than I had hoped
Being an absolute fan of a'Kempis, I thought this work would strike me similarly. Not. Many question if a'Kempis wrote the Imitation of Christ. If writing style and ability of expression are any clue, these don't have the same authors. I have read maybe ten chapters so far; only 1 and 4 delighted me, and these two chapters are amazing and challenging. I'm still thinking about them. The others? Kinda boring and certainly not making me think.

An important book to have
I feel it will bring me closer to God(Update- others will like it too, so take it as a blessing if it is loaned out and disappears. God wanted that person to have it to guide them home. So we need to have a few copies for future travelers 😁 God bless.)

Great retreat
I read this book as a guided retreat in preparation for Holy Week, and it was fantastic! I have rarely had or even found a retreat as powerful as in this book. This said, it could also be used for spiritual reading with the understanding that one is supposed to meditate on each one of the chapters individually. All in all, this is a good book, and I highly recommend it.

A Prayerful Reflection on Christ's Passion
Like a few of the other reviewers, I'm currently reading this book for the season of Lent. What I love about it, is that the chapters are only about 1-2 pages long, but each chapter is filled with profound and inspiring reflections on the four Gospel accounts of Christ's love for us on the cross. If you struggle in your prayer life, this book is perfect for you. It's as if I'm entering into the prayer with the author.

ON THE PASSION OF CHRIST
THOMAS A KEMPIS IS WELL KNOWN FOR HIS BOOK, THE IMITATION OF CHRIST. INDEED, I HAD THOUGHT IT WAS HIS ONLY BOOK! BUT I FOUND THAT THERE ARE OTHERS! THIS ONE IS A SERIES OF MEDITATIONS ON THE SUFFERINGS AND DEATH OF CHRIST. EXCELLENT FOR ALL AROUND THE YEAR, BUT ESPECIALLY FOR LENT, WHICH LEADS UP TO GOOD FRIDAY AND THE RESURRECTION-EASTER! GOOD AND PROFITABLE READING! RQ
