Jack Johnson - Strum & Sing

I had high hopes for this when I bought it for my 13 yr old daughter. I am a little disappointed, but she is not. This book provides just basic chords (with tablature) for a lot of JJ's best songs. The upside is the chord progressions provided are as simplistic as possible, definitely geared toward the beginner. It provides the novice with a means to play along, as well as the lyrics. The downside is that the chords are not very accurate, and the book does not address the strumming patterns at all. If you have been playing guitar for a year or more, you would be better off with the"Play it Like it is" series of JJ transcription books published by Cherry Lane.

I bought this book about a year ago and I'm still picking through it for new songs to play. It has all the chords and words to the songs as well as a legend at the top for any chords you aren't familiar with. I'd say about 80% of the songs here can be played by a beginner which makes it a lot of fun; if you're good at bar chords you can play 100% of the songs. It features about 43 songs total.Remember this songbook is setup for chords, not specific strings for picking.I highly recommend this songbook if you're a Jack Johnson fan.

i have played this product cover to cover several times and enjoy it immensely. a word to those who may have perused their local music/book store, come across this book, and felt offended by it's simplicity: i dont believe the target market for this book was the "underappreciated-guitar-greats", but people who would simply like to "strum and sing" the music. i have a great time showing this book to friends who dont know how to read music. i like this book so much that i am currently looking for similarly simple titles to purchase and/or refer my friends to.

This is a good book as long as you understand what you're getting. I like keeping it simple with just the chords and the words. You have to listen to the songs to get the strumming and you can always go online to find tabs for the intros, etc, if you want. Not sure that all the chords are exactly how Jack plays in concert, but this will get you the basic idea of the song and allow you to learn the songs pretty easily.

I was looking for simple chords for JJ's songs. I am not at the point of copyiung his exact style or advanced fingering. With this book I can practice strumming with muting and just groove in the fantastic vibe that is Jack Johnson. I definitely recommend this.

Got this book as well as the other from Jason's Mraz for my brother's birthday. He was super happy about it, been a huge fan of both singers for quite a long time. Eventhough it may look like a simple book, I really recommended it. So, if you wanna be the center of the party at home with your pals, buy these books and start practising :D

This a fun book to have for beginner to intermediate players. Simple and easy to follow. But, if you are advanced this is not for you. I have fun with this book. Even my 10 year old son can follow along and figure this out.

If you are starting a Jack Johnson cover band, look elsewhere. If you want to hang out with your buddies and play some sing-a-long J2, buy this book immediately. This book is perfect for intermediate guitar players (possibly beginners as well). I lie somewhere in between the two. It includes lyrics, chords, and measures for timing. All in all a great buy and well worth it.

This is my favourite guitar book - would recommend to all beginners and Jack Johnson fans. Large selection of songs.

Nicht die original Griffe die Jack Johnson benutzt. Nur für blutige Anfänger zu empfehlen. Aber selbst denen würde ich raten die genialen Lieder direkt richtig zu lernen! Es hört sich einfach besser an! Außerdem gibt es für Anfänger auch keine Anleitung zum Rhythmus, auch hier sollte man besser Youtube zu rate ziehen...

Hier sind alle Songs der Songbooks "On & On", "In between dreams" und "Brushfire Farytales" zusammengefasst. Allerdings nur die Texte und Akkorde. Keine Schlagmuster, Intros oder Zwischenspiele. Aber absolut klasse für alle Anfänger, die bei den o. g. Songbooks graue Haare und Knoten in den Fingern bekommen haben. Und ein Muss für alle Jack-Fans.
