It's nice that it comes with the cartridges
I just received this printer today. I'm leaving on a trip next week (which is why I bought it) and set it up this weekend. Setup was really straightforward. I'm using a MacBook Pro (OSX 10.10.4). Setup was really straightforward. In the box, the printer comes with both a black cartridge and a color cartridge (plus a "maintenance box", which is about the same size as an ink cartridge, and I'm guessing is similar to a drum kit, etc). It's nice that it comes with the cartridges, but no idea how many pages you get out of these freebie cartridges. I bought an additional 2 black and 1 color. I installed the software by inserting the CD/DVD that came with it, which sent me to an Epson webpage to download OSX drivers. Installed fine. Test page printed fine. You flip up the top lid to load paper. And in fact, I'm quite pleased with how fast this little printer prints. The quality is great (for an inkjet printing on plain paper). I'm guessing the ppm (pages per minute) would be like 10-12 per minute for color. I haven't tested just black&white, but it might be a little faster. The unit is really small and portable. I'm not sure how tough it is for banging around in a checked bag on an airplane. The instructions suggest taking it as a carry-on. There's an LCD screen, which surprised me. The resolution is good. Overall, I'm pleased with this little thing and look forward to using it. It's charging right now with the included AC adapter. The instructions say it take a couple hours to get a full charge. It also comes with a USB cable to connect directly to a computer for charging. Furthermore, this printer can print wirelessly (e.g., from your iPhone). I don't intend to use that function, but it's nice to know it can do it.

Road Warrior Certified
I love this printer. Now I can call myself a true "road warrior" - also paired it with the very slim and portable Epson DS-30 scanner. Printer is fairly lightweight and will fit in a medium to large laptop bag, with the scanner and an ultrabook. Probably would have a harder time fitting it into a small laptop bag, but you could still probably do it, but barely. I use this bad boy to print and sign sales contracts from the road so my sales team can close deals and I can be anywhere in the world and not hold up the countersignatures. MUCH MUCH more reliable and convenient than using hotel printers/workstations which don't seem to work half the time, and most of which don't have scanners. The print quality is OK, it's nothing to write home about. This isn't really designed to be a photo printer. Some of the colors are pretty washed out, but who cares. Quality is fine. Also the wireless capability is AMAZING and the fact it can work off battery without being plugged in is a GREAT feature. There is one other smaller printer I was looking at, but it has a collapsible printer cartridge track which requires setup each time. This one is just slightly thicker and gets the job done. One last thing - TSA likes to 'bomb test' these printers. Learned the hard way. It's considered a 'large electronic item' so make sure to take it out of your bag and in its own tray. Be warned, if you pack it in a suitcase and send it through the X-ray machine, they'll stop you and test the bag.

WF-100 vs Canon Pixma mobile
I used to own the Canon Pixma mobile printer, which was really good even though the bluetooth connection was tenuous. I wavered between that printer and this one, confident that either choice would be good. This is the smallest printer in the world (that prints full size paper including legal). the body of it is (about) the body of it is about the same size as the Canon, but the Canon requires an external battery that fits on the back adding about 2" and weight, AND you have to buy it separately. The WF-100 has a built in battery, and therefore comes with the initial cost. The only thing that made me waver was that CR stated that the printing quality of the Canon mobile was better. I don't know how it could be. The print quality is better than my standard HP printer.I had read that set up was tricky--it wasn't. While I usually just take things out of the box and try it without downloading software (and it might have worked); because I am a new Mac user, I wanted it to be without glitches. The setup guide was very easy, and within 5 minutes I was printing. Please know though that this is a printer intended for mobile use. While it certainly is high enough quality for regular use, it is slower (Not bad) and the cost per page is higher that regular printers. That being said, you could take it on a business trip--or pleasure trip if you need to print, or if you just want to amaze people with how cool you are! and be assured of presenting clients or whomever with high quality printing, or out in the field it would be amazing as well.
