Well done Osprey volume
Osprey produces a variety of slender books, introducing readers to specific subjects. Here, we learn of the workhorse Phantom, a major player in the Vietnam War and some duty during the Gulf War.At the outset, the author, Peter Davies, describes the development and evolution of the Phantom. Interesting is that early versions had no guns. Only missiles for attack and self-defense. Later versions did receive guns and the plane was also fitted for carrying bombs. The next feature of the book is the technical elements: Time is spent on the engine, a General Electric J79. Also discussed--wings and flight control. Then, the variety of weapons, from missiles to bombs to the Vulcan gun.The book then describes the "Phantom variants"--the different versions of the plane compared with the original version going into service, from F-4C to F-4G (the 'Wild Weasel" type, whose mission was discovering and destroying surface to air radar and missiles). Also described are the versions used by other countries, such as South Korea, Israel, Spain, Greece, Iran, Japan, and Turkey. Then, the operational history of the Phantom--from Vietnam to the 1991 Gulf War (serving as "Wild Weasels"). Even now, some F-4s are operational in other countries. A remarkable record of staying power.

Excellent Summary of Subject Matter
Excellent Summary of Subject Matter - There treatises and then summaries. This is excellent for it's intended purpose. Some good general background that would stimulate additional reading on the subject. Good illustrations given the size of the publication. I particularly enjoyed it in Kindle format where I can read while indisposed or waiting in a doctor's office. Kindle is a great idea and a boon to those who travel.

Great Book
The book covered the history and life of the F-4. It included the different models, modifications made by other countries, and a short history of the aircraft in combat world wide. I believe the F-4 Phantom was a great aircraft and this book gives a compact history of the F-4 to readers. Highly recommend this book to others.

Phantom
Provides interesting background and information on the development, production, and employment of this aircraft. Many pictures also of the various models. Good companion to Phantom from the Cockpit (Brit version).

Great reference!
Very informative book with a good selection of photos. A "phan" of the Phantom would be pleased to have this in their collection.

Limited to USAF's F-4s, good contents
The book is detailed enough, but it lacks of profiles, as a modeler wants. It is nice ro read, however.
