Holy cow!
I stepped into this project hopeful but prepared for a total DIY fail! While it is not nearly as easy as the stone coat guys make it look in their videos, it is not super hard and is totally worth it! It’s beautiful. The cost is a fraction of custom countertops. The videos are great, here’s some first hand first timer experience!Cover EVERYTHING! It’s really messy stuff to work with, and once it’s on the floor, or anything else, it’s not coming up.Don’t overmix your clear coat, it will turn foggy and you will have a panic attack thinking you ruined it. It will clear up in a day or two, but you will cry thinking the beauty is gone and your blood sweat and tears were all for nothing. Watch the drips, they don’t sand off flawlessly. Get ‘em while they’re wet. Propane torches are a pain in the a**. Period. You will curse at your torch. A lot. Maybe don’t take on the most ambitious design on your first try. Do a practice piece so you’re not learning as you go on your actual project. There’s my advice. I learned a lot in the week this took me to complete LOL! Also, invest in the top coat. By itself, the epoxy is not scratch resistant. It actually scratches quite easily. Whether that is my error in mixing or not, the topcoat will save you headaches and heartaches.Overall, I love it and will never pay for another countertop again! I have the rest of the kitchen and a bathroom vanity to do and I can’t wait!

Mix longer than the instructions call for.
The process was simple. Measure-precisely, mix- well, pour-slowly. Then follow up with the spread evenly and blow torch to pop bubbles…..I did all that…Poured kitchen countertop…turned out perfect. Poured island top…after 30 days is still not tacky but if you put your hand on it it will stick…unlike my counter tops which is super smooth and just beautiful. We mixed same day and poured that same day?? I Don’t understand what happened. I am going to sand it down and redo the island’s top. We have a bar top to do next so we will see how that turns out. I say it was a hit and miss for our DIY epoxy endeavor. We do have a few scratches on the countertop that turned out pretty. We are hoping that a buffing will remove those. And yes we waited 30 days before placing ANYTHING on top of it for the full cure time. Like I said easy to use just iffy results.

So many compliments!
The media could not be loaded. We’ve gotten sooooo many compliments on our counters! This was our first time EVER using epoxy of any kind and we decided (eventually after I stopped being afraid) to paint our kitchen countertops. I am most proud of our work. Oh, and the children haven’t hurt them yet.Now they did yellow slightly over the white oil paint we used, but over the white acrylic it’s still just pretty a crisp! The two color differences definitely add some beautiful contrast and depth to our artwork, I mean countertops, so it was well. Not worried about any stains so far, because we’ve learned how to get those out without affecting the gloss and we’ve been cautious with heat….. just in case.Overall, wonderful experience, no issues, continue making this wonderful easy-to-use product!Wonderful wonderful job!

Beware if product
Beware if you buy this product. I watched all the tutorials on how to do a dirty pour using this product and it turned out to be a huge expense. One thing they don't tell you in the tutorials is that you can not mix up a large amount at a time like it appears in their videos. I got one counter partially done, (two of us were working together), only to return to a batch of already harding material. We could not pour it on without if getting lumpy. When I called to complain that they didn't tell you that in any of the videos, he said he knew and thought they should express it, but it never happened . I tried to get a partial refund, but they would not budge. So now I am left with spending hundreds of dollars again to try to fix the mistake of them not being clear you can not mix a lot in one batch. It got so hot it was almost impossible to touch. I can't tell you all the hours I watched their tutorials and not one mention of not mixing to much at a time. It turned out lumpy and they just said to sand it down and start over buying their epoxy again. No thank you. I will go to another epoxy store. I tried to upload my pictures but I could not get it to work. Maybe later

Easy to mix and use
This a great way to update a kitchen or bath. We would have had to tear out the cabinets and walls to get the old laminate countertops out due to the appliance cubbies we have in the corners. I was able to remodel my kitchen and bathroom countertops even though I had never used it before. I learned you have to use a torch and not a heat gun to get the bubbles out but other than that it went great. It's only been a couple weeks so I don't know how durable or heat resistant they are but we're happy.

Easier than expected if you follow instructions
I used this on my 3 bathrooms and my kitchen. I followed the directions to a T after watching endless how to videos. I personally found it was much easier to get the look you want by pouring it on clear and then adding your color thru chopping or spraying the alcohol/metallic mix. When I did a dirty pour on 2 of my bathrooms the colors mixed more than I wanted but still turned out very pretty. I made sure my temperature was set to above 70 the entire time and the following week and made sure to tape off Everything as instructed. The one thing I messed up on was i was running low on my last flood coat in my kitchen so I ended up with a few small dimples which was my fault for not making sure I had enough. I have already ordered more to fix it. I was actually surprised at how easy it was to work with and complete.

Fantastic way to renew your countertops
The media could not be loaded. This stuff is amazing. You can totally transform a space. This is the second time I've used Epoxy but the first time I have used Stone Coat. I originally had an old ugly blue formica countertop in my kitchen, I epoxied over that about 8 years ago which held up pretty good. I wanted to change the colors and refresh my kitchen so did it again. I chose to do Black Galaxy which is black and silver glitter in the first epoxy coat. Then I did a final flood coat on top. I followed the great you tube videos online... took my time and love the result. Take your time and prep is key.

Conflicting info in videos vs reality of working with it
Watched the various videos multiple times. Was incredibly impressed and excited to undertake the project and decided to spend the money on Stone Coat given the very detailed and informative videos. Followed instructions to a T, and used the same products as mentioned in the videos. My first bucket seized before I was able to pour. $340 down the drain. Not happy at all. Completely ruined the project as I needed all 4 gallons because the 2nd bucket was already being mixed (we were 2). Scrambled and took over a week to complete a project that should've taken 3 days max... not to mention double the price as the troubleshooting required more product. So so disappointed. Word of advice: don't use spray paint in your mixes.
