I bought two of the bluetooth versions to replace one of four a previous programmable thermostatic radiator valve that had failed recently. As we had two of those in one room neither was that accessible, the idea was to replace both of those with the remote control abilities of these new bluetooth versions and keep one to the old ones as a spare. The programming of these units was very similar to the ones they replaced. The provided instructions are ok, but could have been better, however I you might the review by Anthony Bayliss (20 November 2019) helpful if you have problems. Getting the devices to connect to my smartphone by bluetooth took a little be of perseverence, but they did connect ok in the end. The App downloaded on both Android and Apple fine, it takes a bit of getting used to but I mastered it quickly without too much frustration.I don't agree with some of the less complimentary reviews below regarding quality etc. These units seem superior to the ones I replaced which were some 10 years old. They do make a little noise when driving the thermostatic valves, but this is not disturbing and once you are use to their noise I feel it is comforting to hear them operate from time to time. It might help if you set the temperature tolerance as is suggested by Anthony Bayliss (which I have done).Once both valves were installed in the room and the bluetooth was set up, we can easily control both valves from the comfort of the sofa. These seem to be very competitively priced compared to other devices doing a similar function.Overall, on initial impressions, I am very pleased with the two qiva Bluetooth Smart Radiator Thermostats I bought.

A novice may struggle
OK, there is a lot of technology in a small packet but these units actually work. The instructions are very basic and really need beefing up, fitting the head and the plunger stroke calibration are covered well and time and date inputs are intuitive. The problem starts with the App you have to figure it out for yourself and it took me a little trial and error, but it really is straight forward once you manage to set up the first one. The units will replace Drayton TRV II heads with no issue at all, I have some other makes of TRV and although the head fitted it was unable to motor closed completely, therefore there is a little gamble if you have non-mainstream TRVs. I have spare Drayton TRV valve bodies so I can swap them over when the time is rightBluetooth reception can be an issue depending on the size of your house, sometimes you have to move closer to get a connection. One thing I have noticed is there is a slight disparity from temperature set and actual room temp e.g. if the head is set to 19 deg C the room will be 21.5 deg C with the valve fully closed, this is really not a problem but if you want it on the button there is a +or- 3 deg offset you can program to fine-tune the head. One criticism of the App it would be nice if you could program blocks instead of individual days, but you can do this from the TRV itself and import the program to your App, but I had some issues with this.If the room is quiet you can hear the head motoring I find it reassuring that this indicates the thing is working, the valve closes proportionally to the setpoint, it's not just an on-off valve.I'm pleased with them so far it will be interesting to see how long they last.

Effective radiator valves
Used a number of these valves to replace wax type TVR controllers that were leaking. Found these valves very easy to install as replacements and very effective. Simple enough to programme different temperatures in rooms at different times of the day. However, may need to be kneeling on the floor to make alterations. Can be set to be manual having a set temperature all the time or scheduled with a programmed change in temperatures. Very easy to increase the temperature for a short period or even produce a temporary boost. They rely on the boiler providing heat and have no ability to turn on the boiler itself.Seem to have accurate temperature control. They do make noise when operating and I did have two valves out of the six that I bought that were very noisy or became very noisy. I replaced one immediately via Amazon but the second one I was too late to return. Although noisy it still works. However, I would not like to have this installed in a bedroom.

Terribly hard to set up now. Was easy.
It was not until I realised that these had to be fitted to the valve before the Bluetooth would work that it clicked. Wasted me two hours but then it was great.Programming from the app is a joy. 3 settings per day is enough for most people, but 7?Great rad valves and a good app. Just a bit more attention to detail with the instructions and these stats would be perfect.Sadly due to an update to the software it's now impossible to program more than one valve and no rooms other than the first. Support from the manufacturer is available but it very fast. When they work they are brilliant but when they don't?........ I no longer recommend them. And my husband is a software engineer. He doesn't recxinebdcthem either
