Hynix Canvas SL308 2.5-Inch 500 GB Internal Solid State Drive

What a difference this has made to my late 2008 Apple MacBook - start up and general speed is so much quicker now that I will not need to upgrade any time soon. The Hynix cloning software is not relevant to MacOS by the look of things so I used SuperDuper! instead which was extremely quick and straightforward when used in conjunction with an iFixit video on Youtube. The whole process only took about about an 1.5 hours and most of that time was spent cloning my HDD. I bought a SATA to usb adapter for £5.99 and a precision screwdriver set (you need a Torx 02 and a philips 00 head size to remove and replace the HDD with SDD) for the same price to complete the process.

Bought this as an external boot drive for a 2014 mac mini via a USB 3 drive case. I was hopeful, but not sure, how well it would work, if at all, performance wise. Actually, it's brilliant, throughput is ~ 400 Mb/s and makes a previously rather lame mac very usable. Apple's own internal sata can only manage 90 Mb/s, so the difference is significant.

It's improved my laptop's performance significantly. Had a bit of trouble using the SK hynix software at first but realised that the software only works when the drive is actually inside the laptop, so I had to use a different application (Macrium Reflect, in case you're wondering) in order to clone my old hard drive. Eventually, I got it all sorted and everything is great.

I ordered this drive because it had nothing but fantastic reviews both here and on tech websites, though I was completely unaware of the brand.From the moment I pulled this gorgeous display of build quality out of the box to now I've been nothing but pleased. I bought it as a secondary drive for games; in Overwatch, the announcer is only barely done saying "now arriving at..." before I'm in the character select screen. Killing Floor 2, notorious for its abysmal load times, consistently puts me in the match in 5-10 seconds.All I can say is Tom's Hardware's benchmarks that put it above everything in its class but the Samsung EVO didn't lie. Will be returning to SK Hynix for future upgrades.

Fast. This drive is very fast, and on top you get a very nice cloning program from Hynix.. it was able to clone my wife's Intel Raid.. from windows!!I tested it against my Samsung 840EVO and wins by a wide margin.

One failed within 2 months.

Wonderful! PC now lightening quick. Easy to install with the skhynix downloadable software (based upon Macrium's well respected product) to image old hard drive etc. and straightforward physical installation in drive bay.

This is a good SSD; however, it comes without any formatting, and when using it to install MacOS, which is was what I using this drive for, you'll need to format the drive in the terminal. Finally, do not enable trim. It'll wipe the OS off the drive and you'll have to reinstall it all over again; I've had to do this twice. A firmware update may fix this issue in the future

UPDATE: I ended up buying a second one when it went on sale for $60 to replace the Crucial 120GB SSD I was using for my boot O\S drive, the one with Windows installed on it. Windows 7 gets so bloated over time that I kept running out of room for the paging files and having problems at times.The switch over to the new drive could not have been easier. I used the free version of Macrium Reflect to clone the old drive to the new larger drive which took about 30 min. Then I had to do it all over again because I forgot to tell the software to resize the partition to include all the new extra space! DOH! About 30 min later I was up and running off of the new SSD Drive and could not tell the difference other than it was larger. Has to be one of the smoothest experiences I've ever had in replacing a hard drive that included Windows. After another few days I will reformat the old SSD and I'll have another 120gb for more games!!! (much to my wife's chagrin!) My FPS in my heavily modded version of Skyrim went from 30-40 fps to maxing out at 60 fps since I have V-sync enabled. File transfers are lightning fast and installation was straight forward. It did take a little work as well as a new PCI Card to add additional SATA ports to my computer. This is hard drive # 8 in my PC so had to juggle the drive letters around a bit. Also probably because of the new hardware my UEFI BIOS changed around the boot order but was easy to fix once I figured out what had happened,Can't speak to the longevity of the drive since I've only had for a few weeks but it got very good reviews on Tom's Hardware Guide. SK Hynix Canvas SL308 250GB*entschieden für diese SSD habe ich mich, da ich ein Vorgängermodell in einem ASUS G20 Pc vorgefunden habe und diese seit einem Jahr ohne Probleme ihre Arbeit macht!*da Hynix laut meiner Recherche mit Google zu einen der größten Speicherhersteller zählt und auch der erste hersteller eines ddr rams gewesen sein soll ...war das für mich eben so ein Kaufentscheidung- die SSD wird bei mir an einem SATA II Board betrieben um den alten Pc etwas zur jugendlichen Frische zu verhelfen :)*Bestellt und nach einem Tag da*SSD in hochwertig empfundener Verpackung*im Betrieb nach Windows Neuinstallation nicht mal warm geworden*am SATA II Anschluss absolut super lese und Schreibgeschwindigkeiten...leider auf Grund der Hardware keine Möglichkeit SATA III Port zu testen...
