Financial Slant to the Course of Miracle Teachings
I recently decided that I was going to make the best of my remaining time of living in the Washington D.C. area by keeping the job I already currently have and work a second job (once again I intend to stay in the area for the rest of this year, but I now prefer to publicly keep quiet on when I know that I must relocate). However, I recently found out that one of the jobs I interviewed for in the D.C. area(as a second job opportunity) went to another candidate because they had greater flexibility in the days and hours that they would be available for. I’m at least grateful to have found out the reason. However, I’m also grateful that this book Sacred Success; A Course in Financial Miracles by Barbara Stanny is available to help me take a look at my beliefs around ways of creating greater income. The following are some of the pearls of information contained in this book (I’m guessing that the positive image on the book has to do with believing and knowing that the world is your oyster)Information on some of the clients that the author has worked with such as a non-profit director and an executive coach (pgs, 44 and 45).An interview the author recalled reading about in the Wall Street Journal (pg. 68).Her experience working with an advertising executive from a retreat (pg. 122)Pgs. 151-152-She shares a triangle diagram as it relates to money, affluence, and discussion of various levels involving money (i.e. the first level of establishing a six month emergency fund, the second level of conservative stocks and bonds etc.)Welcoming the Warrior and the author’s descriptions on what a warrior means(pg. 196).I admit that just the Warrior archetype alone may take me some time to ponder on because I’m still trying to at least retrieve and bring on the self-confident aspect of my eighth grade self who made class valedictorian and was voted most likely to succeed (it was out of a class of at least 389 other students and I actually believed in my own intellectual brilliance and the unlimited possibilities for my bright future).

Do you know who you are, what you want, and express it unapologetically?
SACRED SUCCESS is Barbara Stanny contribution to embrace power for women in a society where powerful women could be called bossy, among other things, as a way to diminish their presence in the world. This feminine power is necessary to balance the feminine and masculine presence while taking important decisions that affect humanity and the planet without bashing men.In this book Barbara Stanny opens up about her story, how she went from feeling powerless to achieve her financial success, and the importance of spirituality on healing her relationship with money though a course in miracles. She quotes the course here and there when it is pertinent so you don’t need to have previous knowledge about it.The book intercalates her story with her knowledge focused on three aspects: the problem, the process and the power. Her experience with entrepreneurs in the retreat called SACRED SUCCESS supports with examples how this knowledge affects women in business and how it is not about the money more often than not.Concepts as power, surrender, affluence and greatness, among others, would be explained in a down to earth way. Also, an important part is committed to teach “using money to make money” called “Wealth Building 101”. Each chapter can have exercises, homework or a meditation to help integrate all the ideas and a questionnaire to know where you are with your finances before reading the book. Two minor aspects that I disagree: It is written “Want to make God laugh? Tell Her your plans”. I think God embraces he and she, otherwise it is like going from one extreme to the other. Also, when she advices to save for emergencies, I would rather call it different because I think if I save for emergencies sure they will come and I don’t want that :-).

a new direction
Somewhat inspiring, somewhat just a rehash of standard new age 'live your dreams' motivational speech. I was really hoping for more insights about money like in her previous books, which I reread all the time. I'm sure I'll reread this one too, but it definitely lacks the depth of material in her previous books, which were based on extensive research rather than a few experiential workshops. (For me anyway, I've done so much personal growth work that I may not be in the target audience. Others may find it refreshing and new material.) Still, as always she has an engaging style and great insights. It takes guts to head into unfamiliar territory, which she has done here, and I look forward to future volumes where she finds her stride with the new material. (Hopefully with more financial info too, if there's more to say!) I wholly support her mission of empowering women financially, and completely agree that it will change the world. I gave an extra star just because Barbara is generally so awesome, and the book will probably land better with other people.

A super-helpful look at how I have been holding myself back!
This book has really inspired me! I am reading it for the second time, and I think I am getting more out of it now than the first time! After being raised by a parent who didn't understand how to motivate I grew up thinking I am not enough, not good enough, and will never be good enough. It is hard to get out into the marketplace with that belief system in place. Barbara is showing me how to take the belief system down and get it out of my way of thinking about myself and my work. Highly recommended!

Very interesting
I have gotten so much out of this book. The author offers poignant stories and interesting information that educates the reader and helps the reader draw conclusions about how to best proceed to meet the goal of increasing ones income. Increasing ones income is in large part a mind set and also about what one will and will not tolerate. If you feel like you have worth then you won't indefinately tolerate a series of lower paying jobs. Eventually you will no longer continue to settle for minimum wage jobs, and you will stretch beyond you comfort zone and do things that make you uncomfortable .....like look for higher paying jobs. Anyway I continue to get a lot out of this book.

Recovering Belief in your own Greatness
I have read this book twice now and found it even more potent on the second reading. It is not that it is especially new and ground-breaking but that it brings together the right things, in the right way. It is thoughtful, deeply reassuring and heart-warming. It came into my life at a time when I was struggling to earn very much through an ethical business that I had created and that I love. I was considering giving it up and 'getting a real job'. This book made me re-assess my values. It caused me to stop and reconsider. When I looked at my work through the eyes of achieving greatness (the key theme of this book) - giving the best that I could both through the service I offer and the product I make - I realised that all the energy I had wasted on doubting myself and believing myself a failure could be channelled into my business, rather than against it. I realised I wanted to become a woman who could help others, reach a bigger audience, uplift and transform, make a difference in the world. This is deeply important to me. Aligning to this empowers me.I have looked at many books on prosperity in these past months, some of them highly acclaimed. I have not re-read one of these and most have gone straight to the charity shop. What this book gives me is worth its weight in gold - it reminds me of self-belief, quiet steadfast persistent, and focus on giving the best I can. As I place my effort here, letting go of weighing the financial cost of everything (and yet keep financially savvy), I feel a lightness I have not felt in years. I feel empowered to really dive in and live the love I have for this work. I know that this is already touching and transforming things in so many areas of my life. I am saving money, spending with more awareness, blessing all that comes to me, and learning to recognise wealth as so much more than money. As I lose my beliefs around money, it becomes just another part of life that flows to me - for me to receive and work with with skilfully and joyfully.

Very inspiring!
This book was wonderful; it inspired me in all kinds of fashions, from financial management to coaching on "finding my path". I read it cover to cover and am now an "addict" to Barbara's Stanny work (discussion groups on Facebook, newsletter and the once a month free talk she gives on women and money). I highly recommend it!

Great food for thought
This is for you if you want to know more about money, not from the economic-financial point of view, but from the "inside" point of view. I loved it!

This book bridges the gap between "knowing" and truly understanding what has been holding us back so we can move forward and
Wow! What a book! Barbara tackles money from such a different and unique perspective. In her opening chapter where she discusses women and power I had so many aha moments my head was spinning. So much of our (women's) crappy and disempowered thinking around money is a result of unconscious social conditioning, despite logically "knowing" the ins and outs of money we truly were up against it.This book bridges the gap between "knowing" and truly understanding what has been holding us back so we can move forward and become true masters of our money and to step whole-heartedly into our power.A must read wherever you are in your money journey.
