Great phone but for a few drawbacks
All my pros are pretty much the same as other reviews already posted. Like the web browser (fast enough and convenient), QWERTY, easy texting thats threaded by recipient's name, social apps, easy one touch keylock (on side...no need to hold down for a period of time), camera, etc..... Battery life is actually acceptable for me...depends on how one uses it I guess. Of course I bought an additional charger and car charger just in case. Also adding custom ringtones is easy using one of those ringtone sites (Phonezoo for example). But the MOST ANNOYING CONS are as follows:- Screen turns off very shortly after a call is initiated/received (maybe 1 sec). I've found this INCREDIBLY annoying if you're calling a customer service hotline, banking number, or any call where you have to press the corresponding number keys for something (i.e "Please press 1 to access your account. Press 0 to talk to an agent...") I have to work around it by sliding open the keypad and press the number buttons and then it automatically goes to speakerphone...UGH!!!! Sometimes you need this stuff to be discreet. I'm trying to play around with it more to see if I can disable this feature. If someone knows how...PLEASE COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!!!! HELP!!!!!- The touch sensitivity is inconsistent as other reviews have said. Sometimes it responds by the initial tap/touch but many times I have to press down over and over again with varying degrees of pressure for it to register. This makes the web browsing in particular kinda frustrating at times.- I'ved noticed Ive accidentally ended calls if I press the phone to my cheek so I have to angle it out a bit at the bottom when speaking.Less annoying cons:- Taking pictures by pressing the camera button on the side is awkward for your hand....and it takes a long time for it actually take the picture....if using the flash anyway. Havent tried without flash yet.- No videos.

Great promise, some problems
Samsung Rogue SCH-U960 Phone, Black (Verizon Wireless) I've had the Samsung Rogue a little over 5 months now and use it as our primary phone line which includes unlimited texting as well as a 25 MB/Month data plan. Overall, the Rogue is a very good phone and Verizon provides very strong service in the Louisville, KY, area. The screen is very nice, the QWERTY keyboard is very easy to use, and the Mobile Email is very reliable; however, the battery life, which is never terribly good in touch-pad devices, tends to run out "suddenly" as in it goes from 2 bars to no juice in as little as 2 minutes at times. Also, be sure to purchase the back cover; otherwise, you may find the battery sliding across the street if you happen to drop it.The browser for the Rogue, for lack of a better term, sucks. It can be slow to load, difficult if not impossible to display images, and the playback on video leaves quite a bit to be desired. Nevertheless, if you're NOT planning on using this is as a gaming platform or YouTube station, it is very clean for texting and Mobile Email uses. The primary problem, as I understand it from other forums, is the restrictions placed on the user by Verizon. The Droid will address this problem and render this phone obsolete in 2 years or less unless all your looking for is a very efficient and clean messaging system. The size of the phone is perfect, it's ease of use with Bluetooth devices is superb, and most of its configurations are easy and logical. Beef up the battery, upgrade the OS and browser, and make video playback less balky and this is an EASY 5/5 PHONE!In summary, a very good phone with some reasonable flaws that are not deal killers if your expectations are within the limits of the phones strongest capabilities. My favorite "smartphone" to date, but looking to go to Android or iPad if Verison offers a 3G/4G phone capability. Will update this rating at that time.

Fantastic for a non-smartphone
I recently decided it was time to ditch AT&T and switch to Verizon (most of my contacts are on Verizon anyway, so it only made sense). So, a couple days ago I switched and decided to get the Samsung Rogue. The phone I had on AT&T was a Blackberry Curve, and this phone impressed me so much that I was more than happy to give up the Blackberry. While the ability to use some more advanced Blackberry functions isn't available (notably the calendar is less robust, but still usable), practically everything I used my Blackberry for on a normal basis can be done on this phone. The web browser works pretty well, and the text messaging is just as good as what I had on the Blackberry. The option to have Visual Voicemail and Mobile Email (at a small extra cost) is all I needed to complete my escape from the Blackberry. The touch screen is accurate and responsive, and the menu layout is very intuitive. Compared to the smartphone touch-screens I've seen (like the Blackberry Storm and Windows Mobile 6.1 phones like the Samsung Omnia) this is much much easier to use and much less frustrating. The keyboard is going to take some getting used to after having a Blackberry, but it shouldn't take long to get used to and the buttons have good action to them.In my opinion, this phone is the closest you can come to having a smartphone without actually having a smartphone. This is just fine by me, since I get the majority of the functionality of a smartphone without paying extra for a Blackberry data plan. Note: you will be required to sign up for unlimited data, but it is the cheaper standard data and not the more expensive smartphone data.As for being on Verizon now, the small gripes I may have about how they lock you out of installing 3rd-party applications is minimal, since I now have a cheaper bill and better area coverage, and this phone does everything I need really anyway.
