The Draper Hickory hammer shafts were free of defects and with a bit of shaping were fitted to the hammer heads (8 & 10oz cross pein heads) perfectly.As purely a personal opinion, I roughly trim the head of the shaft down to create a very tight interference fit on the head of each hammer, then sand down the shafts to remove any coatings before soaking them in linseed oil for about a week prior to fitting them in the head of each hammer. After each shaft has been driven in to the hammer head, drill a number of shallow pilot holes in the shaft for the wedge, before again soaking in linseed oil for a few days and only then driving the securing wedge in...that way they last for years.

Feels nice as shaft is fitted on head, I ordered wedges as well but it comes with a wedge so they were not needed but it's always nice to have a spare just in case, saves buying a new lump hammer and as it was over 45 years old it has a lot of lumping memories.

Really good product and reputable brand. The supplier did exactly as promised and delivered promptly and securely. Here is the wisdom, Draper do hammer handles particular to the type not one size fits all. So, is it a claw hammer handle that you need? If not search again it is on Amazon.

Too small for my cross pein or claw hammer, about the right size for a large pin hammer. Looks well enough made.

It is what it says it was and came with a single Metal Wedge although it really needed 2. I fettled it, so that it was a better fit in my Old East German (GDR) 400 gram Hammer Head and everything worked out just fine
